  1. 1.force people to stop clopping to ponies and delete rule 34 from mlp

I have two things in each of my hands right now.

One's a mouse...and the other thing is none of your business.

What's on my tumblr account is also none of your business.

But what's about to happen is both glorious and beautiful and you will never stop me. It's the sweet release I need after a hard nights work, and no one has the right to stop me.

    Not you.

    Not the government.

Not the false gods and empty morals that the masses bow down to.

And believe me...I will enjoy myself.

  2. I like the idea of breaking it down as a illusion, because that is true and always like the "This is not a pipe" piece. However, color itself is also an illusion, so if you really wanna break it down, make a picture that is just dark and light, not color. In fact a brillian piece from this perspective would be nothing on the canvase, but situating the light in the room to case shadows on it, because that's really what we actually see and what actually exists. Just don't put a million dollar price tag. Expressions are fine being loved by the public, but the whole trend of it being the best art ever is offensive to people who do other types of art that is both incredible to look at and very difficult to do. Giving a type of art the higher form prestige ruins what art is supposed to be. Expression, even if expression is illusion. It all is so why abstract gets favored is still beyond me.

The quest for what's real has kinda been like approaching the speed of light...you can only approach it so much with visual medium.

It all started when an artist got sick of painting angels and greek gods and started painting realistic subjects in realistic circumstances. From there it just escalated.

It's been a long while since I've been in my modern art class and I'm drawing upon mostly fuzzy memory, however you may find these links useful.

    http://www.moma.org/learn/moma_learning/themes/what-is-modern-art

    http://www.artyfactory.com/art_appreciation/timelines/modern_art_timeline.htm

Now I will say this, most modern art is...old. Old and of some historical value, so if it has a high price tag then that's often a given.

    You know how collectors are.

We are not really in the modern art era, but rather the post-modern. You'll notice that in modern days, we don't really have these great titans of art popping up any more...there's a reason for that.

The progression of art styles that you read about in textbooks came...kinda full circle.

At the end of the road for the quest for what's real, for the quest for truth, the whole meta-narrative broke down and you could say that it was found out in the end that there is no capital T truth so you are free to pick whatever truth you like.

Modernism was all about the meta-narrative. Postmodernism is about the destruction of the meta-narrative.

Again, I'm just paraphrasing what I was taught by my professor, so I provide the above link for a more concise explanation for the difference between modern and postmodern art.

  3. So what is it that makes it appreciable exactly? I understand that taste in art varies, and I don't ridicule those who enjoy it, but, at least for me, holding it in such high regard is just silly. My uncle actually made a living off of creating works like this, and even HE couldn't understand why people were buying works like this, being an artist.

You have to understand something very core about modern art.

If I could sum it up as simple as possible, it's a quest for what's really real.

For the longest time, western art was seen through the lens of perspective. Art always had a subject.

    But these are illusions.

    margritti-this-is-not-a-pipe.jpeg

"The Treachery of Illusions" by Rene Magritte. The French beneath the picture translates to, "This is not a pipe"

The picture above is truly not a pipe. It was a splattering of paint made to resemble a pipe. But it's not a pipe. It's not real.

Jackson Pollock and other artists like him wanted to break down that illusion and make art "honest" you could say.

There is an aesthetic beauty in the arrangements of colors all by themselves without having to form a subject. This appeals to some people, and others it does not, but there is indeed an objective aesthetic value in the painting.

Aesthetics, being the branch of philosophy dealing with the nature of beauty and art, which can be broken down into either subjective aesthetics or objective aesthetics.

If it does not please you subjectively, then you wont intuitively appreciate such art, but you can learn more about objective aesthetics so you can see what other people see in it.

And if anything...it makes for a cool desktop background.

  4. Probably, you likely know more than i do, I'm also talking about the type of "art" that concerns splattering paint on a canvas and claiming it has some deeper meaning.

Ok. The kind of art you are describing is part of the modern art movement if you're talking about what Jackson Pollock does.

    jackson-pollock1.jpg

As a bachelor of fine arts, I am more than well prepared to defend this kind of splattering on a canvas.

    • Brohoof 2
  5. So what are your thoughts on so called contemporary art? Now keep in mind, when I say "modern" art, I'm not referring to the movement that spawned the works of Vincent Van Gogh and Picasso, rather I'm referring to the pretentious, offensive, and often provocative shock content endorsed by many "trendy" art galleries in large urban areas.

Are you talking about Post-Modern art?

  6. I believe in Celestia.

    She's real.

Came to me in a dream.

    Gary Busey was there too.

But let us speak of the brony subculture itself. Is it a religion? I do not believe so. In fact, there is probably a more appropriate way to describe bronydom.

They are simply a group of people that enjoy a common fetish.

    fe·tishnoun \ˈfe-tish also ˈfē-\

: a strong and unusual need or desire for something

: a need or desire for an object, body part, or activity for sexual excitement

: an object that is believed to have magical powers

    Full Definition of FETISH

    1

a :  an object (as a small stone carving of an animal) believed to have magical power to protect or aid its owner; broadly :  a material object regarded with superstitious or extravagant trust or reverence

b :  an object of irrational reverence or obsessive devotion :  prepossession

c :  an object or bodily part whose real or fantasied presence is psychologically necessary for sexual gratification and that is an object of fixation to the extent that it may interfere with complete sexual expression

    2
:  a rite or cult of fetish worshipers

    3
    :  fixation

My little pony is a fetish.

Suck it up, cause it's the truth.

Every single one of those varying definitions of fetish apply to the fandom in one way or another.

For some it's simply and obsession. And that's just it, an obsession. Very relative term. We usually just call it normal fanboy/girlism.

    For others...it's kinkier.

And there are even a few that feel as though there is some mystical truth in the show...and when they get together you have a cult.

    btw...

    Join my Cult.

  7. Speaking of Ms. St.Germain, has anyone seen this wedding from Nightmare Nights?

I want Rarity to minister my wedding! :D :D :D

I was there at nightmare nights, but only for part of friday and the rest of sunday.

Reminds me that I need to do a blog post on that...

I heard about that at closing ceremonies though, and it has me a bit interested in using my legal status as a minister for realzies.

    ...and for $$$

Gotta get me a marriage gig one of these days.

  8. Well, Luna is faster than every version of Jigglypuff, she'd never get a sing off, but for the sake of argument...

Magic isn't a free system in the MLP world. Magic in Equestria, or at least telepathy, works on a system of equal and opposite reactions. For any force exacted on an object, the user's body has to be strong enough to resist the opposite force. This is why we see Twilight Sparkle struggle when attempting to move the Ursa Minor; it was just within the limits of the force her body could resist. Basically, the amount of energy they produce is equal to the amount of energy they can take.

Luna is at least capable of resisting the force's necessary of moving the moon without being crushed. Even if Canterlot city were to fall on her, it wouldn't hurt her even if you don't account for surface area ( i'm assuming that the city breaks apart in free fall). Mind you, under those conditions, it wouldn't hurt jigglypuff either (Pokemon are some resilient buggers).

And if Luna falls asleep... then what? Jigglypuff has no ability to hurt her, so unless this is a battle to incapacitation, Luna just wakes up and tries something else.

Jigglypuff uses curl then rollout and knocks Luna into a bed of spikes after using gravity on her.

    The End.

    horse-tongue-2.jpg

Does jigglypuff have long range attacks?

Her voice counts as one I believe...also she can learn quite a few beam moves from TM's.

Likes: It starts with a C.

Dislikes: ...coincidently it also starts with a C.

Hobbies: Worshiping the big C. The C I like, not the bad C, see?

Other info: Personally the letter C is one of the more frustration letters of the alphabet for me.

  10. There are no limits on fanfiction or fiction, nor should there ever be any.

If you want to impose a limit then you want to impose censorship.

If you want to impose censorship, then how precise will you draw the line and how the hell are you gonna make a judgment call when content gets gray and 'fuzzy?'

    First amendment rights come first.

Somethings aren't very tasteful, this is true, but may every hand that tries to prevent it from being published suffer from eternal sunburn.

    • Brohoof 2
  11. Considering that Jigglypuff is supposedly one of the weakest ones. And Luna excels in Illusionary magic you may be right.

Though only an Epic rap battle of history could truly determine the outcome of such a fateful duel.  :mustache:

If it came down to an epic rap battle, then jigglypuff may lose since the only thing she can say is, "Jigglypuff."

  12. Well, burden of proof really falls on you to prove that. We already know it has nothing to do with being an alicorn, since the unicorn tribe moved them before the alicorns, and Starswirl moved the sun and moon for days at a time. It has nothing to do with Luna, since Celestia moved the moon while Luna was banished. We also know it has nothing to do with spells, since Twilight did it without one.

And that's faulty logic; just because you didn't do something, doesn't mean you can't, especially when it's already very much within your scope of abilities and power level. It's like saying Superman can't pick up a continent because he's never done it, when he's pushed moons and planets. It's like saying you can't pick up a car when you've already picked the statue of liberty. As it stands, the energy necessary to move the sun and moon is greater than the energy necessary to blow up a mountain. It doesn't really matter why she didn't do it.

If this was really so, then I think Tirek should have been easily defeated...but this is just all speculation.

So for the sake of argument lets grant that you're right.

So Luna is busy picking up Canterlot castle.

How far way is the castle? Is the battle happening anywhere near the castle? Could be happening in a swamp in the middle of nowhere.

Lets say the castle is nearby and Luna has no problem killing its denizens.

In the time Luna is taking to move the castle, how fares her chances if Jigglypuff hits her with Sing and it hits?

What if the castle is right above her when that happens and falls on her instead?

  13. Not at all, actually. Discord did it with no particular spell. Twilight did it without one either. Before Celestia and Luna, the unicorn tribes carted the celestial bodies through the sky. If you read the comics, Luna's also moved the sun twice, once while Celestia was in another universe. All it takes is enough magical energy to do so.

It's not like she's not out of options even then, though. She turns Jigglypuff into a potted plant, or teleports her a mile beneath Equestria. Gravity spells, weather manipulation... these are basic things any unicorn that focuses on magic would know.

Again, moving Celestial objects is a different kind of magic. It doesn't matter if she moved the sun or not, the point is that the power put into moving celestial objects doesn't translate into the same force used to move terrestrial objects, or else defeating Tirek would have been a walk in the park. All they would have had to do is spear him with a few mountains...

Twilight had all three of the Princess's powers and she still had trouble defeating Tirek, but did you ever see her uproot mountains with her power? She could punch holes through them, maybe even blast them to bits, but if you cut that power down to 3/4ths, do you really see Luna picking up Canterlot?

The power to move celestial bodies does not translate to moving terrestrial objects.

However, I will grant that teleport would be an effective move to put Jigglypuff out of play, if it wasn't for the fact that Jigglypuff can use copycat, so she could teleport herself right out of anyplace Luna puts her.

  14. That's Canterlot City, and that doesn't even require a fraction of the energy needed to move the moon.

And Cute Charm only works when someone makes physical contact with you, and only with a 30% chance. Jigglypuff is going to be buried under several millions of tons of rubble before it ever gets to that.

Luna may be able to move the Moon, but that's due to a spell via Alicorn Magic.

If Luna really had enough power to lift all of canterlot castle, then she would have dispatched Tirek by herself early on.

She can move the moon, but only the moon. She could probably lift large heavy boulders, but there isn't anything canon that suggests that she can lift a castle.

Now what is Luna gonna do when Jiggly puff hits her with Perish song? (edit: forgot that takes out jigglypuff too)

What happens when Jiggly puff follows up with Diable, Sweet Kiss, or Solar Beam (TM move)?

  15. I see.

...Starting small, then. Luna takes to the air, picks up Canterlot city and hurls it at Jigglypuff.

    WUT.jpg

    Fo Rizzle?

I highly doubt Luna can pick up all of Canterlot Castle.

She'd be too charmed by Jigglypuff's cuteness to do so anyways, even if she could.
