Indeed, LA is one of the worst (Crime wise) city in America. Also, me being a K-9 unit, I get a lot of calls dealing with armed individuals. Also, police often (when they feel its needed) take the gun out to scare a suspect, usually if the suspect is non compliant , or they fell threaten in any way. (I can't speak for all officers, but I do know a lot about such things, and have read many a police report that involved the officer drawing his gun at some point, and my friends from college who became officers in other states tell similar story's.)Sorry it took so long to reply, but I had to support a friend trough hard times. I just got back home, and I HAD to upload this pic of my dog, Ginsu.

First, like the doctor who logo. It took me 4 years of collage, 2 for a police academy, 3 months to get a physical exam, and cpr certification, and 1month for my application to be accepted. It took an additional 3 to join the LAPD, (I was a park ranger, then a state trooper, then a cop) and 3 years to get my K-9, and sgt,1st class rank. I needed a physical test, a (bachelor's) degree in criminal justice, a hole crap ton of tests, a 2 year training course, and to be pepper sprayed, and taserd. Oh, and I needed to take a polygraph test. (a polygraph is a "lie detector", its not very acurate, eather:)). Domestic violence cases, because they are so sad. also, I could die just because I pulled someone over for speeding.

Actualy we all (meaning us cops) do draw our guns a lot for reassurance , we don't NEED to, we just do. also, when i mean people armed with guns, i mean they have them NEAR them. Like, 600 an hour and a half (this is an estimate, I became a cop to help the community, not so much the money) . moast cops make 2-300, but I am a Sgt, 1st class, and a K-9 officer whitch maks me more dough.Yes, I did want to be a cop. The reason was I was bullied alot, and even comtemplated suicide. (once or twice, but I havent thought about it for 25-26 years) That is also why I said yes to doing that speech to the middle school class. Coming across people armed with guns, inLA it happens fairly often, maybe once a week for me at most. I have been shot at once by a pellet gun, and i have a pretty nasty scar on my leg.

When I was intervewed for the police job, they had to know if i was a vergin, and if not, how many times I..... I said to mutch..... Im not gunna be on tomarow, a hole lot, somthing big is going down.

been a cop for 7 years, soooo, if I have not, I would probably be unemployed. (yes, i have, around 5,000,000, thats 68 percent of my job)

Yes, infact, most police do get commisions. As for what happend to you, he stopped you, because you where closer to him, if he could have got you both im shure he would. I call backup in those situations.I hope i answerd your qestion Also, the reason (most) officers become police isn't for the money, I let most people I pull over go if they have never violated the law before.
