      You are not too late.  We will probably be taking this quite slow (I am busy quite a lot and I don't think Bas has tabletop simulator yet).

    Electromagnetism sounds like a fun interest. I am trying my best to understand alternating current, transformers, relays (that is pretty much direct current switches), and more. As part of my old telephone collection and interests in how they work.

      Old telephone electronics are definitely a good way to get started.  Everything should be low frequency enough to work with.  You probably want to pick up a 20 MHz oscilloscope if you don't already have one.  You can often get those for around $20 used and the should be fast enough for the sort of stuff you are doing.

      I just started reading Collective Electrodynamics by Carver Mead, which is a really interesting theoretical approach to electromagnetism if you are interested in that end.  Haven't had that much time to read it yet because I am busy with other responsibilities though.

      Pump diode, they are basically lasers in diode format.  You stick them on a circuit board and they can put out several 100 mW of optical power at a specific frequency.

      Built myself a pump diode power module.  Its bigger than I wanted it to be but it works :).  

      Warhammer 40k 8th edition is out if you are into that sort of thing, I have yet to have an opportunity to try the new rules.

    Can I just ask you something? Don't say "PC master race" in serious contexts pls. I have a slight feeling that might turn console gamers away, which isn't what we want.

      I never really considered the PC gaming master race joke to be serious to begin with. It is a glorious joke an it is all in good fun. But if it seriously bothers people I will stop using it.
