So, as a lot of you may know, Legend of Everfree was recently leaked online thanks to some lovely guy who recorded the English dub. I was excited. The previous film blew away my expectations and I expected to come away from Legend of Everfree satisfied. But no, as you can tell by the title, I wasn't. This is easily the worst thing to come out of the Equestria Girls brand so far for me. It's predictable and boring. With the other three films, they all had a reason to exist. The first one was an introduction, the second was the struggle of a reformed character who felt judged by those outside of her friendship group and had to prove herself by taking on the villains alone and helping her friends back on their feet at the end, and the third one, my favourite, was similair to the first film in several ways, which was noticeable, but it was done well and different enough and fully wrapped up the character arc of Sunset.

Legend of Everfree has no reason to exist. It takes forty minutes to establish something as basic as the antagonist (who isn't Chrysalis, which I initially expected). In the other films, we knew around 10 minutes in who the antagonist was. The Dazzlings were established in the first two minutes of the second film, Sunset was established seven minutes into the first film and Principal Cinch was established around the ten to fifteen minute mark in the third film. Gaia Everfree (who is nothing more than a monster for a story round the campfire dating back 250 years about the camp leaders' great grandparents but is believed to be responsible for the strange happenings around Camp Everfree) is established twenty minutes into the film, and those first twenty minutes only establish a couple of things. The place the characters are headed, which you probably knew going into this film anyway, the leaders of the camp, one of which has a crush on Twilight and the other turns out to be the antagonist, which I saw coming a mile off, and while we're here, why is Twilight put into unnatural and forced relationships in the Equestria Girls movies? Her relationship with Timber Spruce is unbelievably cringey to watch throughout the film. Sunset and Flash also have a few moments together, which never felt cringey and god awfully awkward, it felt like a normal, believable relationship was starting again, which I expect we'll see more of in the next film. The other characters are fine, there's not much to say about them to be honest. They don't get much development compared to Twilight, Timber, Gloriosa and Sunset.

Gloriosa is "Gaia Everfree" by the way. I put that in quotation marks because despite what Wikipedia says and calls her "Gaia Everfree" in the cast of the film, she looks nothing like her when she transforms and isn't linked to Gaia in any way and it would be impossible, as Gaia Everfree is in a story from about 250 years ago and Gloriosa stumbles into a cave with magic gems from Equestria around the time Canterlot High visit Camp Everfree. And to anyone who says her turning out to be the villain wasn't predictable, it was. Once you start watching films like Wreck It Ralph, Big Hero 6 and Zootropolis that have seemingly innocent characters who turn out to be villains, it becomes a fantastic trope. I tend to play games during kids films I haven't seen following those three films mentioned in which I attempt to guess which innocent character will turn out to be the villain. And I played that game here and got it around the twenty to thirty minute mark. They try to mislead you into thinking Timber's the villain, and although it's got a good dilemma for Sunset to try and tell Twilight her suspicions, but it boils down to either Gloriosa or Timber, and since they play up Timber as the bad guy, I guessed Gloriosa, and hey, I'm right. No shock there. And she transforms into another demon like Midnight Sparkle and Demon Sunset, at which point, yep, been there, done that, Twilight is convinced she's not Midnight Sparkle anymore like Sunset was in Rainbow Rocks and Friendship Games, and then everything goes back to normal, film ends, and I'm facepalming. Not only is it unfunny, cringey, dull and predictable, but it's the same we've seen before twice already, and it really doesn't make any difference other than it's a different character as a demon thingy. I really hate this film, and I don't want to go on any longer. So long folks, and take care.

Also, why are the human Main 7 given superpowers now? It's a stupid idea, and I want Equestria Girls to be different from the show. Now the characters can talk to animals, run super fast, have super strength, can make shields, have exploding balloons and read people's minds. Why is it making the characters more like the show counterparts with this change, and why was it done in the first place? Urgh.

So, here's a new video I made guest starring JamesTheBrony and FateMLP!
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCwWOzDpvXo

This was fun to make and took a long time due to other commitments, so I'd greatly appreciate any and all feedback and views. Coming up in the next blog is a Legend of Everfree review with big spoilers, but to be honest, if you've seen the film, you saw the twist coming at the end.

Now that we have got that out the way, allow us to proceed.

Greetings. I am Retro. An ex-reviewer of MLP episodes. Why? I don't like doing it anymore? Yes, but there is more to it, and I want those who are either small in the Bronalysis community or are trying to start up an MLP reviewing channel to read this, because this is important.

Something I've noticed about the Bronalysis Community is how hard it is for the little guy to find their footing. Now, when I started, I knew I wasn't gonna be big overnight, I highly doubted I would ever be a big deal. So why did I do it? Because I loved doing it, and when I had people comment on my reviews, saying that I should do more, it kept me going. It made me want to push myself as a person and a reviewer. So why did I stop? Because the Bronalysis community isn't what I would deem a welcoming place anymore. You can't really do anything original, because you've only just started out, and people just think you're someone trying to cash in on the reviewing ordeal, when it's actually something you enjoy, and they brush you off and don't give you a chance.

I've heard a lot of people who are very popular in The Bronalysis Community say in videos and livestreams, that if you want to do MLP episode reviews, don't do them because "there's too many reviewers already". This is what I mean by an unwelcoming place. If you wanna do something you love, do it. It doesn't matter if there are too many reviewers, you deserve a chance of doing what you love as much as anyone else. If at first you don't succeed in what you love, trying something else and finding enjoyment in it is the next step to success online.

I'd suggest putting your own unique spin on the reviewing episodes formula, and eventually you'll have a style of reviewing that makes you stand out and gets you more attention. Why don't I do this? Because like I said, I don't enjoy reviewing episodes anymore. It's boring to me and just a chore to do nowadays, but if it's what you love, then do it, make yourself known and do what you love, and prove to me that I am not mistaken in mind.

    Retro out.

Hey you! My name is Retro, and I'm here to discuss three things! Starting, now!

    1) Slice of Life In Brief
I made this parody video a while ago that was well received by about twenty people who watched it, and now, I did a new one, which is better and hopefully you enjoy it!

    2) Friendship is Tragic: Applejack
'Friendship is Tragic' is an idea for a animated series I've had for a while now. It's basically the normal show, but with death, destruction, violence and a Scottish pony who drinks alcohol and will only be seen once! I'm currently writing the scripts for ten episodes, and then getting voice actors together, creating the animatic, and then starting to animate the first episode around the end of December. Not confirming a release date for the episode, but I can say this: Applejack puts cyanide in "them apples" and people die. And she lies about it, hilarity ensues and then more episodes happen that will make you laugh, cry and laugh again! Look forward to it, please!

Anyway, I'm tired, and I want to go to bed. So, keep an eye out for 'Friendship Is Tragic' and watch Slice of Life in Brief, please!

So I decided to make a review of Friendship Games and put it on YouTube, something I do with MLP episodes. Well, here it is!

So, I spent a day or so writing, recording and editing this video, and I'm super happy with how it's come out! It looks perfect and it's quite possibly the best looking review I've done, so I hope you'll all enjoy it!

Yeah, so MCM Birmingham was on this day. It was most excellent. I went with fellow YouTuber and friend ColonelKFC as well as PumPegg. The three of us tried out replica swords, Hershey bars on a stick, steampunk hats, 20% Cooler T-Shirts and brought a crap ton of merchandise because it's a Comic Con, so why not?

On that day, I met William Russell, the actor who played Ian Chesterton in the first 3 years of Doctor Who, and got the first ever DW story signed by him, Anneke Wills who played Polly in 1966 and 1967, and got The Tenth Planet, William Hartnell's final story, signed by her, Deborah Watling who played Victoria Waterfield in 1967 and 1968 and got The Tomb of The Cybermen signed by her and last but not least, I met Wendy Padbury, and got The War Games, Patrick Troughton's final story and the last DW story of the 1960's signed by her.

At the end of it all, we went to Five Guys. Seriously, I need to go back there, that place's food is lush. Imagine a McDonald's burger that doesn't have a bunch of big fillings in the middle that cause it to be all wonky and fries that taste flawless with milkshakes that make it seem as though you tasted the rainbow, yeah that's Five Guys.

There really isn't that much to document when you're there for only one day, but hey-ho. I had a good time and that's all that matters.

Welcome all, this is the Dark Side version of my Force Awakens review where I spoil the plot rotten and tell all about the many plot-twists. All right, click off now if you have not seen it.

    You've done it? Yes?

Good. Now, let's talk the plot.
Poe Dameron, a resistance soldier and his droid BB-8 are seperated after The First Order attack Jakku, trying to find a part of a map that leads to Luke Skywalker, which is stored within BB-8. Kylo Ren then orders a search for it after taking Poe Dameron prisoner. Poe is then able to escape with help from a Stormtrooper, who Poe dubs Finn. However, after their TIE Fighter is shot down and crashes on Jakku. Meanwhile, Rey encounters BB-8 and she agrees to help it after it is nearly captured. Finn encounters the two, and they all board The Millenium Falcon which has been deserted on the planet after The First Order attack the market. They are then captured by a ship which Han Solo and Chewbacca are aboard. After going to another planet and meeting Chewbacca's girlfriend (yeah, he has one, I know), The First Order attack and capture Rey. Finn and Han go to the rescue after popping off to The Resistance Base, however, Rey has managed to escape herself using the force, all leading to a huge moment of suspense.

Kylo Ren reveals himself to be...
    ...Ben Solo.

Han and him talk for a few moments, but Ben kills him without warning, marking the end for one of my favourite Star Wars characters, leading to an incredible lightsaber battle between Finn and Rey vs Kylo Ren. I could gush over this fight all day, but there's just no time for that. The base they are on is then destroyed, with Finn ending up in a coma and Rey going on a search for Luke Skywalker.

Yes, this movie has an excellent, though at times convoluted, plot. However, what are the negatives to the film?

One, Starkiller Base. It's pretty much the Death Star 3. It's larger, has the same weakness as the first Death Star, and gives the X-Wing pilots something to fight. Despite it being a brilliant battle packed to the brim with action, it's such an unnecessary addition to the narrative that could easily have been cut out.

Two, the scene where Kylo Ren and Rey battle, Rey had no experience with a lightsaber, and yet Kylo Ren looses. The reason I dislike this is because it can easily be misinterpreted. Rey was angry and filled with hate after Kylo killed Han, but others see it as though Kylo can't be taken seriously now that he was defeated by an inexperienced Jedi who never used a lightsaber.

Three, Kylo Ren used the force in all kinds of unique ways in the film and, similarly to Twilight in some scenarios in Friendship is Magic, forgets he has those powers, especially in the epic final battle.

Despite these flaws, I love The Force Awakens the same as I love A New Hope, and I can easily look past it's flaws because of how invested I am in the characters and settings. Packed with action and fresh faces, as well as familiar ones, Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens proves it's worth as a continuation to a classic trilogy of films and recalls the series' former glory with renewed energy successfully.

Hello and welcome all, this is my review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, or at least the spoiler free, light side edition, if you want to call it that. So, what did I think of it? I thought it was good. Not perfect, but very good, far better than the prequels. However, it is not without it's flaws, which I'll discuss in The Dark Side, Spoilery edition. There is, thankfully, more good than bad. All of the characters are wonderful and well cast, especially in the case of John Boyega as Finn and Daisy Ridley as Rey, who are perfect for the roles and interact wonderfully together. Harrison Ford as Han Solo is perfect once again, and it's wonderful to see him in the role again in a Star Wars film for the first time since 1983. Peter Mayhew also returns as Chewbacca and is fantastic, not to mention Carrie Fisher's excellent performance as General Leia, who's return is more than welcoming.

The story of The Force Awakens is one I'm not going to spoil for anyone, and talk about in my Dark Side version, but what you need to know is it is very reminiscent of A New Hope and towards the end a small dose of the last twenty minutes of The Empire Strikes Back. The battles are also spectacular and the practical effects are amazing, and what CGI is used is effective and works well, as it makes it look as though it's really there, and I can't really tell if something is CGI or practical, especially in the case of the TIE Fighters and X-Wings. All I can say is, if you are going to see the film, I'm sure you will enjoy it, and when you've seen it, be sure to check out my Dark Side version, where I spoil the plot rotten and talk about the bad!
