The Daydreamer

As a foal Crypty was quiet and shy. He preferred book stories to playing with others outside. Real life was boring, sometimes, unpleasant, chaotic and messy. Books, otherwise, were full of thrilling stories and adventures which you can read at your pace and if you got tired you always can close the book and return to it later when you feel right. So it wasn't a surprise that a young nerdy unicorn ended up among dusty shelves with his friends - books.

The Librarian

Growing up Crypty didn't notice how from foal skipping classes in the school library he turned into a worker of Royal Canterlot Archive. His life was always looking similar, organized, categorized, ordered alphabetically. In addition, it seemed that Crypty always knew where to find the right book and what this book is about even if he hadn't read it yet. Friendship with books gave Crypty an education as well, he developed interest in history, magic and, of course, history of magic. After a while Crypty got qualified enough to not just care about old funds of the Archive but also study and analyze the new documents and artifacts. First trips didn't make wait long.

The Adventurer

Everything started from visiting other libraries and museums to exchange copies of archive materials, but soon it grew into solo research for historical (and magical!) artifacts all around Equestria and beyond. Old writings found under the floors of old houses, unknown spells on walls of ancient shrines, peculiar trinkets in pawn shops started to glow with arcane energy, everything required to be deciphered, identified, catalogued by an agent of the Royal Canterlot Archive. Crypty's natural talent to see hidden secrets and qualities of things under their covers helped a lot. These days Crypty felt himself as a hero of his favorite books, adventures, detectives, treasure hunt. He started journaling his adventures to make the rising chaos of his life more organized. At the same time the adventurer pony started to learn drawing to enrich his awfully written scribbles with some illustrations.

The Failed Friend

During the years of his adventures Crypty met many amazing ponies and non-pony folk. He always was friendly, received help gratefully and helped back, but always was busy with his job and daydreaming that never was bothering to build bonds of friendship. One day Crypty met a pony who impressed him so badly that he wanted their connection to remain forever, he didn't want it to fade away like others. He made up with the best idea he could, he made a spell... Spell could allow other person to see the world around the same way as Crypty does, with all hidden beauty. What could go wrong? Crypty put the spell on the friend, but instead of words of delight he heard the words of curse. Happened that the spell makes the subject feeling tortured because you can't just force anyone to see the world with your eyes. In addition the spell had a reverse effect and for a second Crypty saw himself with eyes of the tortured person. He saw the crazy and dangerous control freak! If it were written in a book, Crypty would play a role of a villain. This idea was too horrible for Crypty's dusty brain.

The Stone

Scared by himself the unicorn panicked and escaped. He was seeing the horror in every mirroring surface, ponds and windows. He wanted to finish it by any means possible so he took decision pretty quickly. Crypty found a big garden where, probably, some wealthy ponies lived, choose the side of garden which looked the least attendable and put a spell on himself. The Stone Sleep spell.

The Coming Back

A time has passed and for some reason the Stone Sleep spell got weaker. The stone figure of a unicorn in a garden started moving. After regaining consciousness Crypty found that the section of the garden where he stood for years wasn’t so unattended. Somepony was cutting the grass and caring about the flowers with love. After his return, the former archivist found that the world changed significantly, Equestria has a new ruler and the School of Friendship was founded in Ponyville.

The New Chapter

After exploring Equestria as a traveling merchant Crypty stayed in Ponyville. His shop is full of rare and mystical tomes and who may know what you can find among dusty shelves if you're lucky today?
