I'm not making an account to reply there, because I don't feel that's a good idea for me at this point.
And I'd say that no, its not normal (what is normal anyway?) but it IS understandable.
FiM shows us an idealized world, where troubles are resolved quickly, and I can see why you'd fall for Fluttershy, you are not the first nor the last.
