  2. Here's the deal. You can't go through your life obsessing over everything. Big things, small things, it doesn't matter. We're all here to learn as we go. None of us will ever be perfect but that's okay, God will make us perfect after this life is over and forgotten. Trying to attain perfection will only cause you a lot of personal torment and a nasty obsessive/compulsive streak. Trust me, you don't want to go there.

I know this may seem hard at first, because it takes some mental readjusting that may seem contrary to your instincts, but you have to practice letting go a little. Now I'm not saying you should let go of God or religion obviously, but let go of your strict expectations of yourself and others. Life is a dirty mess. Fine. We can only do our best, but obsessing and being miserable is not what God wants for us, He loves us and wants us to be happy, first and foremost. Only by setting aside the grief can we truly expect to fulfill our potential.

As far as other people go, everyone is at their own stage of development in life so we have to be patient. People who ridicule religion often have no idea what they're ridiculing. They follow the cues of mass media, which I'm sorry to say is grossly irresponsible. We find ourselves judging those who judge us, but that's human. We learn and try to do better the next time. The human animal is too complicated to worry about the countless impulses, good or bad, running through us at any given moment.

I've been where you are, and I had someone tell me the same things I'm telling you, let go a little, step back and see the bigger picture. It took me a little time to readjust, but whenever I started to doubt myself, I simply shut it off and said, "Enough!" In time my mind felt a little less squeezed and I found that was what God wanted; less pressure and more happiness. I felt His presence in my life more naturally. Only by opening up to Him and trusting Him can we do His will, and this does not mean obsessing over it!

If God were to set you down and talk this over with you face-to-face, He'd probably say, "Lighten up! You're doing far better than you realize." Many people, it seems, don't try at all, and God loves them too.

Be at peace, brother. And God bless you.

  3. I am stuck at home and there is barely anything to eat so tonight I am eating yogurt and french fries for dinner...I may make popcorn next.

Sounds like a good balanced diet to me.  :ooh:

I had Chicken Fricassee. But I'm just about to plow into a Three Musketeers bar.

  4. I'm french canadian and british. Quite an odd combination.

Not all that odd, actually very cool (cuz that's what I am!) French Canadian and British on my mother's side. On my dad's side, I guess I'm 3/4 Polish to 1/4 German.  :proud:

  5. I like it HOT. I want to feel the heat in my bones. I want the heat to hurt.

I don't mind thunderstorms though because they make it cozy to be inside. I don't like them so much at night because they make the power go out and my fan shuts off. I can't sleep without a noisy fan by my bed.  :pout:

  6. I'm 24. I'm youthful for my age (which sounds like I'm already an old lady trying to cling to those lost years) but I have never acted my age and never will. Yes, I have been toilet trained, but you know what I mean!

    Thank God for Cover Girl.

  7. I love 'em. I see so many every day! All ages of kids (and adults too) as part of my job.

The fact is, babies, toddlers and children of almost any age get a little cranky sometimes. We all do. The little ones just express it in the way they know how, which is usually a little noisy. They just have needs. As soon as they're taken care of, everything's good again.

I find that with most kids old enough to communicate with words, I reach them by treating them with the same respect I would any adult. Kids are often more intelligent than their parents but come off differently because no one gives them a chance to be heard and they get frustrated. Listen to them, respect what they say, think and feel.

One thing that I hate to hear parents tell their kids is "Because I said so." This is crap. It shows no interest or intelligent thought. If one really has a reason to tell a kid something, explain your reasons and they'll understand and respect you for it. If one has no good reasons, you'll see that you should be listening and not telling.  :squee: Okay, I'm done yammering now.

Dreambiscuit Welcome to the MLP Forums! This is a great community and I hope you'll enjoy your time here. If you need help or just want to chat, feel free to PM me.   :fluttershy:

Thank you, Icy Wind! A very lovely welcome! We're gonna get along fine!  :pinkie:

Yoo I got to scope some of that superhero!

Thanks! I got it commissioned by Koi-chan.

The superhero thing is a long-standing work in progress. It's about 1/3 done. It's about an asinine wannabe who tries to use super powers to impress a girl. It doesn't work, but it gets him in deep with some real supers that aren't so nice. Then the plot thickens...

  11. I can't live without a watch. I'd never use a phone because it's too bulky. A watch is not only an incredibly useful tool, it's a piece of jewelry that says something about your sense of style.

I wear a Mickey Mouse watch that plays two tunes (Mickey Mouse Club March and It's A Small World) and I feel naked without it. Unfortunately, I wear a costume for my job and can't wear the watch with it during those hours. (But when I do, it's on the left hand).  :proud:

  12. I remember seeing you join FiM (Friendship is Magic forum).

Welcome to this site too, I guess.

Yeah, I signed up there but the layout wasn't very intuitive for me. A friend recommended this place to me so I'll probably make this my home. Nice to see folks here from both forums though. Hope to see you around!

  13. I was up early before work and my roommate at the time had it on TV. I didn't think much about it, assuming it was just another morning cartoon show. But I couldn't turn away from it and very nearly ended up late for my job!

The episode was 'Lesson Zero' and it remains one of my top three (right behind 'Magical Mystery Cure' and 'Crusaders of the Lost Mark').

What a way to start the day! (Not to mention the rest of my life!)
