Yours does.

Yeah. But don't take my word too seriously. I'm super new to these forums

I personally love openSUSE. It's one of the main Linux OSes I use (others are Arch and Gentoo, and Debian and CentOS for servers). It uses RPM packages and either Yast or Zypper to install the packages. Good choice with KDE

I don't think there is any restriction to that. The images in sigs are done through linking external images, so it's limited only to the amount of space the place you host the image allows.
-
Practice practice practice, my friend! That said, I'm no expert. I still have much to learn. Thanks for the feedback I think the size restriction for animated sigs is the same as with normal sigs: 600px by 100px.
-
Thank you I agree about the text feeling out of place. Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it Also, I think I fixed the problem with putting in my sig properly... I hope. Agreed. I need more ponies in my sig!
-
Perhaps Thanks! I'm thrilled to hear that you are using it Thank you, Mr. Pillow Ah, thanks! Yeah, I really like simple wallpapers. I've even bundled a couple of my non-pony wallpapers as 'simplicity wallpaper packs' (http://tinker.kotaweaver.com/blog/?p=203 and http://tinker.kotaweaver.com/blog/?p=208 if you're interested) Again, thanks everypony!

Hey everypony. I decided it was about time that I get a signature, so well... I made one It ended up not being at all pony related or for that matter, related to anything, but I think I still may end up using it. Tell me what you think Edit: Looks pretty bad when shrunk down like this. I'll have to rethink it a bit. Edit Edit: Fixed... ish....

Her mane is in there... Sort of.... Also, the colors are entirely taken from Rarity. I know it's really subtle, but that was sort of the point: this way I can have it as the wallpaper at school and not be judged for anything more than just the girly color scheme.

So, here's a quick and dirty Rarity wallpaper I did

Luna or maybe Celestia? Perhaps a bit of CMC won't hurt either

Gimp is really powerful. It's no wonder that a lot of the Photoshop developers are ex-Gimp devs. Adobe has hired quite a few former Gimp devs to re-implement Gimp features into Photoshop. That said, it takes some getting used to, and to be honest, I think the Gimp experience is much better under it's native Linux environment than under Windows or Mac OS X. That said, anyone serious about using Gimp should be using at least version 2.8 (which was released just a couple months ago), because it adds the single window mode. I've been using Gimp for years (and programming scripts for it), and I have to admit, at least for me, the single window mode is an absolute must. With the current development branch, 2.9, there are a lot of really cool features, so I think it would be best to be compiling your own version from source. Paint.NET is a lot of fun, but it's missing a lot of features. Gimp is terrible for painting btw. It's purely a photo editing tool. For painting, MyPaint and Krita are both excellent choices. Or if you want to spend a bit of money, a lot of people swear by Paint Tool Sai. Also, @Cloud Chaser, I like the wallpapers!

Excellent, will be looking forward to that!

Haha sorry, I got a little bit over aggressive This is probably one of those things that will never be resolved, ie Linux vs GNU/Linux. As such, probably for the better that we don't start a flame war of sorts. !! That's excellent! Definitely will use to drive people crazy.

I don't know if I completely agree with that. For instance, my robotics system (which I admit, is a spinoff) does have a custom kernel. That said, it's still definitely a spinoff. I think it's virtually impossible to create a fine line where you can define something as a distro or not a distro, and it's a really case by case basis. I've always taken "distro" to be a broader term and "spinoff"/"derivative" to be a more specific distinction showing which family a distro belongs to. (ie Ubuntu Studio) Yeah, I play a lot of pony pranks (ie one of my friend's Windows machines plays pony music in the background when he starts up certain applications.) EDIT: oh, and when I said "ponies did the trick", I meant the ponies enabled you to remove the virus

I don't think that creating a DE is the way to go. How many people do you think would seriously use a ponycentric DE? Sure, I'd use a pony themed Gnome Shell or a pony KDE, but not an entire DE, and not just because it's pony themed. I'd mostly be worried about its stability and feature set. Can the DE really compare to these mature systems like Gnome, KDE, or LXDE? I think one would be hard pressed to make it work. So why would a distro make sense you ask? Making distros can basically be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. Everypony remembers SUSE Studio (http://susestudio.com/) right? Maybe somepony here has actually used it. I know that I've made an Ubuntu based distro that I used for our robotics setup several years ago. It was basically just a stock Ubuntu with some additional internal software and a lot of custom configuration used to better integrate our robotics hardware into the workflow, but that was still pretty cool. If you base the distro off another mature distro, there can be very little work to do if you want. Also, a pony distro would be great as a way to prank people. Slip in the CD when someone's not looking and POOF!!! Their whole computer is ponified. Or perhaps you have a friend who got a virus and asked you for help. What better way to promote ponies than to be able to tell your friend that it was the ponies that did the trick!
-
There are already thousands of them out there. I think there is no harm in a pony-centric distro, especially if it includes some awesome ponyware.
-
That's a good idea. Perhaps I'll consider that. I'm usually surprised when I sneeze... But maybe that's just me.
-
Thanks! Yeah, I'm definitely still learning the "ponitomy" if you know what I mean. Anatomy of the pony. This was a good exercise to help with that.

I need a drawing teacher.

Cool, will be looking forward to hearing from you -
Thanks for the crit, though I'm really just trying to develop a style that is not "ponitomically correct". Agreed. Thanks! I have yet to really develop drawing styles for ponies, but I think this sort of style might be one that I want to further work on That said, it's very very different from my usual art styles (http://kotakotakota.deviantart.com/art/Slender-Nyan-304138440?q=gallery%3Akotakotakota%2F14660524&qo=5, http://kotakotakota.deviantart.com/art/Super-Flying-Dog-305591291?q=gallery%3Akotakotakota%2F14660524&qo=4, and http://kotakotakota.deviantart.com/art/RA-02-Quantum-Levitation-Race-craft-291563486?q=gallery%3Akotakotakota%2F14660524&qo=38 as some rough examples of what I usually do) Haha, still, there is a lot of truth to the joke: it's still a very much WIP style
