I have a few questions.
I assume a lot of discussion has gone down on Skype, but do y'all have a thread discussing everything that's gone down as well? Regardless of how much sympathy each staff member has for the people who resigned and what they said, I think you can all agree that what happened (or what the former staff perceived to have happened) needs addressing. I think a thread would be a more productive way of figuring how to do that than discussions that may be scattered across any number of Skype chats.
If there is a thread, has every staff member been encouraged to weigh in? I don't mean like a "Hey, you should all respond to this" , but something like going around and personally approaching staff members (from all branches of Poniverse) and asking them to give their thoughts on the situation, no matter how brief.
Do you think it would be helpful to give staff a way of anonymously suggesting things or airing grievances? Mite b a good way of getting people to share things before they boil over and lead to resignation. Not sure if it would have helped in this case, but it's an idea.
I recall Aquila once had the idea of approaching people who have resigned, specifically people who didn't necessarily leave on the best terms, and asking them to (presumably judgment-free) talk a bit about why they left. What do you think of doing that? Bit of an intimidating proposal, but I think some common themes among those people could point to areas needing improvement. Or at least give food for thought.
On that subject, there was a Feedback thread made by SCS (now Ocean Waves), that more or less coincided with his departure from staff. Y'think that topic might be worth revisiting?
------
You don't have to reply to me with an answer to any of these. Also, the questions are intended for any staff member who happens to be reading this. (Worrry not, I'm almost done!)
I didn't reply to any of the threads while they were active, and I'm not going to launch into a huge reply now. A lot of things could've been handled better. A lot of people have been hurt, both on and off staff, and they have my sympathy. Out of respect for them, I have decided not to stir the pot. However, I will be very disappointed if people continue to angrily leave staff, and those who remain decide that there's nothing that, any point, could have been done better.
Not saying that's what is happening now, since I obviously don't know. I sincerely wish the staff the best in sorting things out, and continue to both like and trust just about all of them that I've interacted with.
------
This is all I have to say for the time being, and don't intend on replying to this thread again.EDIT: typos tho

Implying that good shows won't happen after this.
I can't take this seriously.
I'd go so far as to say that good shows /have/ happened after this.
The date range is a little silly too, since it only looks at when the cartoons started airing. Why did the "golden era" end in 2013, when all of those shows were still releasing new episodes?

If anything, I think the opposite mindset opinion is much much more common. Thinking that the current stuff is mediocre at best, and that it can never really match the classics.
-
In terms of length of time, a few months or so. In terms of quantity of episodes, I'll throw out five as a guess. This season I haven't been too motivated to keep up with the release schedule, so even now I'm not really sure how many episodes I'm behind.

By "overused", do you mean they should replace him with somebody else?
I've seen a lotta people saying Ash should be replaced because he never progresses or wins the league or gets with the girl of their choice. While those are (kinda) reasonable complaints, I do wonder why people think the problem is Ash and not the writers of the series deciding not to have him do any of those things. A new character wouldn't necessarily be any more successful than Ash in any regard, especially if the series is handled by the same people.
That said, a little fresh blood wouldn't necessarily be such a bad thing either.

I used "Cadence" for years because, as others have mentioned, it's a word. And the definition
In Western musical theory, a cadence (Latin cadentia, "a falling") is "a melodic or harmonic configuration that creates a sense of resolution [finality or pause]."seemed related to Cadance as a character, being a kind princess with a beautiful singing voice and all that. Since so many people used that spelling as well I never considered that it could be incorrect. Took me years before I saw some merch and realized I'd been spelling it wrong
Still prefer Cadence. Fite me -
Her reformation could've been better, but it was also the only time she even remotely made an episode more enjoyable for me. So I'm cool with it.

I don't disagree with your conclusion in general (that a game's choice in graphics should complement the gameplay + other parts of the experience) but do take some issue with the notion of "cashing in". Once I start thinking in those terms, it seems to me that /every/ game is trying to cash in, using various things that appeal to players. New graphics, old graphics, big and open worlds, large casts of quirky characters, minimalistic designs, and virtually everything you can describe about a game is an attempt to get money in somebody's wallet, no?
So it seems to me that the main difference between a good retro game and a "cash grab" is whether one enjoyed the game, in which case the accusatory tone comes off as unnecessary.- 1

I'm ready for the ride to end, but I don't think it's happening just yet.

This episode was pretty darn irredeemable in my eyes.

It's easy enough to spam the same moves over and over again rather than have to think about what you're doing and the consequences of acting too late.
Sealand's already explained well enough, but if you're interested, here's a clip of a competitive Pokemon battle. You don't have to watch all of it, but a few minutes should suffice to show that playing against people is rather more difficult than playing against an AI and involves a lot of thinking and planning.
Of course, if you're talking about the sort of fights you encounter in game, then your criticism is legitimate. You don't really go against anything that Nintendo wouldn't expect an 8-year-old to be able to handle, there. However, despite how simple it may seem while you're crushing hapless gym leaders, there's enough complexity within the combat system itself to support a thriving competitive community.

We have indeed had this thread in the past, and it still confuses me why Dash is viewed as a character who /doesn't/ get a lot of hate. Disliking RD and thinking she's overrated are incredibly incredibly common opinions.
Depends on where you lurk most often, I s'pose.

Between the parasprites and the vampire fruit bats, Twilight seems pretty terrible at altering animals' diets on the fly. Seems like that might be worth a shot.
-
Just wondering but...is anyone from Team Instinct? My home is an entire field of blue. x_x
Represent . Our leader guy is easily my favorite of the three. We're outnumbered, but Instinct takes over a decent number of gyms in my area even so.
Anyone else notice that Pokemon are harder to catch? I had to use 4 Pokeballs on an Eevee last night.
Definitely.

[11:09:22 PM] Batbrony: WHY A NEW CHARACTER???
[11:09:39 PM] Batbrony: WHEN YOU HAVE AN ESTABLISHED CHARACTER WHO EVERYONE LOVES ALREADY PINING OVER THOR!!!

My stance is
- They were wrong to pressure Fluttershy into doing something she didn't want to do
- Twilight was reckless to monkey with the bats' eating habits
But there was absolutely nothing wrong with Applejack wanting to boot pest animals that threatened her livelihood off of her land.

Since this thread seems to have died a little, @Fhaolan, @Fresh Nonsense, thoughts on adding back these emotes?
Not replacing any current emotes, but just adding these ones back. Seems like some people are interested in using them again
-
Snoop is really the only candidate who I'm certain shares my values and is willing to fight for them.
-
Ah, I saved it to my computer and uploaded it to my post manually. That'll be the best we can do until/unless a staff person reinstates it.
----
To clarify, I'm not advocating canning the newer emotes and replacing them with the originals or anything like that. But since it seems there're people who'd like to use the old ones, and we now have them available, I don't see a downside to giving them the option.

While the others were accidents, I purposely replaced the old garbage emote with ninja Rainbow Dash because AJ ninja didn't make a lick of sense ... and ninja Dashie was more canonical.
#burnitwithfire
I don't really agree with that decision. The ninja AJ's expression always felt more like what I'd normally use a ninjaish face for, and the new emote's broad grin seems sorta out of place to me. If the emote's trying to say "I'm a sneaky bastard " the older one does a better job of that imo.
But I may be the only one who feels so passionately about an emote from two years ago, and it shouldn't be brought back for my sake alone . Just chiming in with dissent as usual
LW if you can find this emote I will be eternally in your debt.Scratch that, rescued it myself . Also grabbed the old while I was there

From a design standpoint, their wings have always looked really clunky and awkward to me . Not a huge fan of their other appendages either.
Characterwise I don't hate any of them. In fact, I wish Celestia would get some goshdarn screentime.

Do people hold too high of a standard for MLP?
in MLP:FiM Canon Discussion
Many people do but I don'tSeason 6 definitely caused me to lower my expectations, but not my standards. Those have stayed fairly constant for the past few seasons, I think.
