ChipsAhoyMcCoy 127 June 12, 2014 Author Share June 12, 2014 I am going to invest in a launchpad to get started with
Ribbonfree 2,384 June 12, 2014 Share June 12, 2014 A launchpad won't help you that much without anything to control so you probably should not do that. You could try the free DAWs like LMMS but they're notoriously clunky and I personally couldn't give you any advice for those. FL Studio is my baby and I know it fairly well, but that might be out of your price range. Best you can do if you don't have the cash for now is to study guides and sites online and get familiar with common terminology in the production business. Flutterpride 6 June 15, 2014 Share June 15, 2014 (edited) IMHO, LMMS could be very useful for learn theory of making sounds. I'm still using it in many tracks, and it looks little similiar to Fruity Loops (FL Studio), so it can help you to learn using DAW, making melodies, bassline and drums. I can sent You some of my projects, so You can see how it works. :3 Edited June 15, 2014 by Flutterpride

One thing I noticed with LMMS is that they've worked on their appearance, and it now looks more professional than before. Anyway.... back to the topic. So, yes. If you want to start making EDM and stuff, start off with LMMS (that's what I did). If you want to go to FL Studio, then by all means do so. It'll be an easy transition from LMMS to FL. I have a thread with free plugins, SFZ, and sample packs going on here: http://mlpforums.com/topic/100934-plugins-sfz-samples-etc/#entry2726663 you should definitely check it out and download some of the software. Since you're saying EDM, definitely install T-Force Alpha Plus. It's the best free plugin I've found for any type of Electronic music. If you need help kickstarting LMMS and using it, let me know. I'm sure @Flutterpride would be happy to help as well. If you're going straight into FL, again, I'm sure either or I would be happy to help. Good Luck! My music is below, so if you want to hear what you can do with free stuff, check it out ^^ Edited June 16, 2014 by Krenton
