kelseymarie805 301 June 25, 2014 Share June 25, 2014 Ok so, thought I'd go ahead and try my hand at digital drawing tonight, and well, I don't think it's terrible, I mean there's some things I forgot to erase but, other than that it's not bad. http://kelseymarie805.deviantart.com/art/Applebloom-digital-drawing-463274444?ga_submit_new=10%253A1403656367 I decided to try to draw Applebloom since, her character has the most simple design for the most part, so I figured she'd be much easier to draw than other characters. Now, for the original Applebloom - She's so adorable! I just love her!! 4 Here's a HUGE thank you to the make of this gorgeous signature!! _Kurtis 636 June 25, 2014 Share June 25, 2014 Awww, what a cutie! That's very good for your first digital drawing, it shows a road to perfection. My advice is smooth out the lines and add more definition in the curves.

My advice is smooth out the lines and add more definition in the curves. Thank you! It's actually not too bad at all really either, not sure if I'll continue digital drawing or not but, I think that if I did decide to, I could probably end up being a pretty amazing digital artist. Yeah, it's pretty shaky lol but, the thing is with that is that I don't have a drawing tab or a regular mouse so, I just used the touch pad to draw her with. I may go in later though and clean it up some, along with trying to do some better curves and maybe coloring her in. The body is too big so that's not really that great but, it's not too noticable I don't think. Here's a HUGE thank you to the make of this gorgeous signature!! I'm a pretty good artist when I draw with a pencil and paper. I decided to see how good I would be with a tablet and to be honest, drawing with a tablet wasn't really satisfying. I found drawing on paper the best solution for me. Which ever way you decide to keep going, I'm sure you'll be an amazing artist. Keep at it! (I'm actually not the most confident person so, I'm surprised to have confidence with this haha). I've actually done some hand drawing in the past and, I'm not a bad artist with that either, haven't done it in awhile though but, I figured I'd try digital artwork. I can see where that might not be as satisfying, I mean, it does feel pretty good to see a piece of artwork you've been working on for hours finally in your hands and done, but I did enjoy doing the digital artwork. It was nice! I like your confidence! You also don't have to continue to draw digitally if it isn't comfortable. I'm a pretty good artist when I draw with a pencil and paper. Ok so, I went ahead and edited for tonight so, after a couple of hours of work, I got this outcome - http://kelseymarie805.deviantart.com/art/Applebloom-digital-drawing-edit-463314979 I'm liking the edit much better, big improvement imo, a lot smoother looking (not as smooth as it could be but, that would take a lot more work), not nearly as rough, got some mistakes fixed and overall just a much better looking drawing. Maybe later (not tonight, not gonna happen.....) I'll add some color to it and try and make the lines smoother. 2 Here's a HUGE thank you to the make of this gorgeous signature!! SkyBound 829 June 25, 2014 Share June 25, 2014 It is a rather shame that there is not more work done of Apple Bloom around here, as she as just as adorable as the rest of the CMC. I have said it once and I will say it again that I always love to see how a piece progresses with each new attempt, and this is no exception. While viewing each one side by side, there is quite a noticeable difference between your original and this redone version, as the lines are a bit smoother and the drawing itself is much cleaner overall. Of course, there is always room for improvement, but it is quite a leap you have taken between the two and you should be quite proud of that. Kudos! The one thing I would be aware of is the general anatomy, as the neck seems a bit too long as well as the body being rounder than it should be. Other than that, I feel that these two pieces are fine examples of your first try at the digital medium and if you choose to continue with it, I know you will only get better with time. Though I prefer more traditional mediums for several reasons, I have also seen absolutely gorgeous and amazing examples of what can be done with a digital canvas. But so long as you are enjoying the time you spend on art and drawing, you cannot go wrong with either one; it simply comes down to preference and comfort. Just keep up the good work and I do hope to see more soon! By the way, you mentioned that you used a touch screen to draw this, correct? I was rather curious if you simply used your finger or did you have a stylus on hand to use? 1 Deviantart Tumblr

I too, like seeing different pieces redone and such, although, I didn't quite "redo" this one as much as I did just go in, edit, clean some around the edges and smooth them out some (or at least try to). I do plan on redoing them though!! Yes, I agree with you on that, the neck is a bit longer than it needs to be, as well as the body being too round, and the mane could have some better curves in it as well, but regardless, it's still pretty good. Also, I didn't use a touchscreen rather a the touchpad (mouse) that's built in on my laptop. With that being said, I used my finger. A touchscreen drawing tab would be nice to have but those are pricey. Here's a HUGE thank you to the make of this gorgeous signature!!
