Aero chuckled at Anala's gentlemarely explanation for why she should pay. 'I wonder what it would be like if you actually spoke like that all time?' Aero paused briefly to contemplate it, then added, 'It'll probably just become extremely weird if you kept doing it.'

"Don't worry, I wouldn't," said Anala to Aero as she gave the price of 12 Bits to the waiter. "I don't want to look like one of those Canterlot snobs who seem to think that they're better than everypony else just because they're wealthier."

 

"Last time I ate at a Canterlot restaurant, a waiter asked me to take my hat off. I told him he could kiss my flank. The next thing I knew, I was being thrown straight out of those doors like I was the lightest thing in the world."

After receiving the payment, the waiter left to prepare the food.

 

Aero's eyes widened in surprise when he heard what Anala did in the Canterlot restaurant. 'I don't think it really matters what restaurant you're at if you tell the waiter to "kiss my flank." That sounds very rude no matter what.'

"Good riddance if you ask me," said Anala gruffly. "That city should be called 'Pedantalot'. Get it? Because mostly everyone there is pedantic. Man, I can just imagine the horror on their faces were they to find out what activities I engaged in as a filly..."

Aero nodded. 'It sure gets frustrating when you're told you can't do something for no reason other than some arbitrary social rule you've never head of prohibits it. Why do they care so much anyway? Does me putting the table salt on the left side of the table instead of the right side affect you in any way, hypothetical Canterlot pony? It doesn't, so why do you care about it so much?!'

"Exactly! What if somepony is left-hoofed?" said Anala, and she threw her hooves up in the air to add emphasis. "Perhaps they just make up these 'rules' to gain a sense of superiority whenever they see somepony breaking them and they can tell them off for it!"

'Perhaps.' Aero responded. 'I don't give it much thought. I rarely go to Canterlot, so whatever stupid rules they've come up with don't affect me here in Manehattan.'

 

At that moment, the waiter returned, giving Aero and Anala the food they ordered. Aero picked up his hayburger and dug into it.

"Ain't that the truth!" said Anala, beginning to brainstorm prank ideas for the unlikely scenario she did go to Canterlot again. She picked up her food.

 

Anala picked up her milkshake and took a slurp. "Ah... this brings me back..." she said, and continued to drink it before taking a large bite out of her hayburger.

'These hayburgers are really good!' Aero exclaimed as he dug into his food. 'I'm so lucky to have a new restaurant that's both close to my work and has really good food!' Aero paused for a moment as he searched his memory for a particular name, but didn't find it. 'Um, did you catch the name of this place, Anala?

 

Aero took a quick sip of his milkshake when he heard Anala say something about bringing her back. 'Did you say this place brings you back? What does it bring you back to?'

"Lemme go check," said Anala. She went outside and looked up at the sign. She rolled her eyes.

 

She went back inside and sat back down. "It's another McDockald's restaurant," she said. "McDockald's restaurants are all over the place! There's gotta be at least four in Manehattan!"

 

 

 

'Did you say this place brings you back? What does it bring you back to?'

 

"Just when my fillyfriends and I would drink milkshakes together as younglings," she said. "I guess I am quite a tomboy, but as I grew up, I learnt that being 'girly' isn't necessarily a bad thing."

'McDockald's, is it?' Aero repeated. 'Sure, they seem to have too many of them in Manehattan, but they're all to far away from me to be worth going to. Manehattan's a big place! Having this one open up here sure is lucky!'

 

Aero then listened to Anala recount her filly days. 'Of course being "girly" isn't a bad thing. But to be honest, I find it quite hard to imagine you doing anything "girly".'

Anala stifled a chuckle at Aero Wind's comment, and then opened her change purse to show the light green stallion the contents inside. Lipstick, tampons, and a mirror. "I guess I'm not the one hundred percent tomboy you first imagined me to be, huh?" she said.

Aero chuckled too at the sight of what was in Anala's purse. 'I guess you aren't the tomboy I thought you were. It's interesting how we can so different under the surface, isn't it?'

 

At that moment, Aero stuffed the last bit of his hayburger into his mouth. 'Well, I'm finished. Is there any place you had in mind after this?'

Anala chomped the last of her burger down and swallowed it, banishing it to the pits of her stomach, never to be seen again (well, except on 'the way out'...). She then wiped her sauce-covered muzzle clean. "Why don't we go to The Worn Saddle? It's a bar not that far away from here," she said. "Maybe we'll arrive in time for the weekly quiz."

Aero seemed rather startled at Anala's suggestion. 'A bar? I don't drink, so I don't have any reason to go to one... Well, if you really want to, I'm happy to come with you anyway.'

 

When Aero head about the quiz, he quickly perked up. 'So, what's this weekly quiz? Is it a science quiz? That sounds fun! I could easily ace a science quiz! Especially if it's about weather! Do they have questions about weather?!'

Anala's ears perked up. "You don't drink?" she restated. "Look, Windy, having a little swig every now and then isn't going to cause your liver to blow up. You seriously need to try some alcohol. It's good!"

'It's good, huh?' Aero repeated. His voice was quieter, and he looked to the ground. 'I... might just give it a go then... But only a small amount.' He returned his gaze to Anala. 'You'll be there to make sure I don't do something stupid, right?'

(OOC: I actually don't drink in real life. I'm happy for the RP to go this way, just keep in mind all I really know about bars is what I've seen on TV so I probably don't know much about it. Let me know if I do something unrealistic.)

"Yes," replied Anala. "Er, you're okay with that nickname, aren't you? I can see why you might take offence to it, though..." She snickered a little. It was immature, but Anala, while usually having a bold and sarcastic demeanour, was not a stick-in-the-mud pony.

Anala asked about Aero's nickname. '"Windy"? Well... I actually kind of like that nickname! Don't worry, I wasn't offended at all, it just seemed like an odd way of addressing me.'

 

Aero walked out the door, then stopped when he realized he had no idea where he's going. 'I don't know where it is, so could you lead the way?'

"Sure I can!" responded Anala, and began to lead Aero to the bar.

 

"I just like applying nicknames to most ponies I meet," replied Anala as they walked alongside one another. "Riley became 'Rye', for example." If Riley had heard Anala's explanation as to why "Windy" might not be a pleasant nickname, he surely would have had to have an ambulance called for him after his laughing fit.

Aero followed Anala as she lead him to The Worn Saddle. He was feeling uncomfortable about drinking for the first time, but having Anala with him gave him confidence.

 

'So, do I just go to the counter and ask for a cup of alcohol?' Aero asked. He wanted to make sure he knew exactly what to do before getting there so he doesn't make a fool of himself.

"Yeah, that's about right," confirmed Anala. "Cider is about 2 Bits fifty per glass."

 

And with that, they were near the door. Anala swung it open, and the two of them were greeted with piano music and ponies socializing. She tossed a Bit into the hat beside the lanky stallion playing the piano and sat down at the bar.

 

"These stallions at the bar are Riley's friends," said Anala. Referring to the buff stallion beside them, she added to Aero, "Don't be intimidated by Brutus over there. He's a nice fella."

Initially, Aero just stood at the door, frozen. It was all a bit too much. Here he was, about to attempt drinking for the first time. Sure, the atmosphere seemed cheerful and jolly, but also chaotic and unruly, perhaps too much for Aero's tastes. Eventually, it clicked that just standing in front of the door forever is probably not the best thing to do. He followed Anala inside, imitating what she did to make sure he doesn't embarrass himself. He put a Bit into the lanky stallion's hat, and followed the exact path Anala took to the bar. He sat down next to Anala.

 

'These stallions at the bar are Riley's friends,' Anala told him. 'Don't be intimidated by Brutus over there. He's a nice fella.'

 

'H-Hi' Aero quietly said to Brutus, with a wave. He turned back to Anala. 'I... To be honest, I feel rather uncomfortable here,' he said, in a low voice so hopefully only Anala heard. 'It's like... I feel like I'm a fish out of water here. Can we do this quickly?'

As they sat down at the bar, Anala was just about to give Aero some words of reassurance, when Brutus returned Aero's greeting. "Hey, buddy!" he said. "I don't think I've seen you here before. Who might you be?"

 

He noticed Anala was present. "Hello to you too, Miss Elderberry."

 

"Just Anala is fine," said the archer mare. She hung out with Riley's bar buddies much less often than the goofy Pegasus himself did, so said bar buddies had made a habit of addressing her in a formal manner, rather than just by her first name as they addressed each other.

Aero was startled by the vigor in Brutus's voice. 'Hey, buddy!' he said. 'I don't think I've seen you here before. Who might you be?'

 

'I-I'm Aero Wind,' he stammered. 'I'm a m-meteorologist.'

 

'Hello to you too, Miss Elderberry,' Brutus added, referring to someone else.

 

Aero looked around them in confusion, before turning to Anala. 'Sorry, who's Miss Elderberry?' He was unaware of Anala's last name, and didn't link the name to her.
