Manehatten Painters

Quillina Script had the honor of accompanying the princess of the night, Luna, to Manehatten in order to spend some quality time away from the castle. She originally had said no, until a certain painting she bought had caught her eye. She giggled to herself, seeing the contrast between the two painters and seeing the lovely strokes that their work used to create such a masterpiece. Seeing that they were from that city, and knowing the princess was going there, she had tagged along to make a special request of the two famous ponies.

 

Of course, finding them had been another matter. She'd asked around the city, but she didn't quite know their names, and describing them proved to be a failure. she sighed, unable to figure out their names and had given up trying. She grunted, upset that she couldn't' find them.

 

Walking down one particular street, she finally asked a pair of two ponies if they'd seen the ponies she sought after. Little did she know she'd found them: "Excuse me? I'm looking for two painters? Theyr'e sisters, live here in the city, and I think one is named Acrylic?"

Acrylic smiled at the pony and stood up from her stool.  "Hello, I think we are the ponies you have been looking for?"  Acrylic said as she and Gothic began to set up their art supplies. "My name is Acrylic Sketch, and this is my sister Gothic Sketch." Acrylic gestured to Gothic, who had already finished setting up and had begun painting. She took a moment to look up emotionlessly at Quillina and waved. "...did you want to buy a painting miss?" Gothic asked quietly and toward her canvas. Acrylic turned her head and smiled to her sister, then began to pic out her colors.

Quillina looked at them and her face light up. Seeing the two ponies she'd slaved over finding was a rewarding experience, "Well, yes! you see, Luna's birthday is in two weeks and I wanted to get her something!" she looked at her, then suddenly she realized how rude she was being, "Oh sorry, I'm Quillina Script! The royal scribe to Luna!"

"Wait you want one of us to make a painting for the princess?! That would totally help us out!"  Acrylic squealed in delight. Gothic just sighed and said nothing, but appeared to be hiding a small smile on her face. Acrylic looked at her sister than back at Quillina. "But..which one of us will make it?"

Quillina looked the mover, then she giggled and she looked at them, "Actually, I'd want one from each of you!" She turned, exposing a saddle bag with Luna's cutie mark on it. She removed two large pouches of bits, enough to buy an entire house and lease it for years, "Being the royal scribe means I have a lot of money." she said quickly, seeing them stare, "I'd like one from each of you. I think I want to have one painting from each of you!"

The mares took the money and split it between themselves evenly. Gothic looked up from her canvas, and sighed. "So...are you going to tell us what you want painted or not?" She glared at Quillina as she spoke, and fidgeted with the two golden hoop piercings on the side of her ear. Acrylic nudged Gothic in the ribs and glared at her. "You can't be rude to the customers. Or, at least not this one. This is a big opportunity for the both of us and you know it. So cut it out!" Acrylic whispered to her sister from between her teeth. Gothic rolled her eyes. "Whatever."

Quillina looked at them and she sat down, then she drew a scroll from her bag. Like her other stuff, this scroll was light blue and had Luna's cutie mark on the back. She laid it out, "Basically, I need one painting of Luna standing on the top of the canterlot tower, a picture of it is in that scroll, looking at the setting sun while she raises the moon from one of the corners. The other is of Luna herself, a portrait of her with the moon raising behind her. I have pictures of her inside of there if you need them!" She looked at them, "I don't mind who does which one, just that both are done! It's her birthday, and I just KNOw you two could really impress her!"

"I'll do the portrait." Gothic announced, already getting started on the portrait.

"I guess that means I'm doing the other one." Acrylic said, bending down to choose her colors. "So is there a due date for the pictures?" Acrylic said finally finishing setting out her colors, whilst Gothic had already started.

Quillina thought, "We leave Manehatten in a week and a half. I'll drop by every so often to check. Can you get it done?" she looked a little fearful, "Can you have it done in 10 days max?" she was afraid they couldn't, but she had to have them done before she left Manehatten.

"Oh, I feel offended that you would underestimate us like that. We have finished complex paintings in a week, or less." Acrylic replied with a wink. Gothic smiled at her sister "Quillina, if you don't think we can do it, than why not come in and check in on us everyday." Gothic said with a smug glance at Acrylic. Acrylic shook her head at Gothic, and laughed at her.

Quillina let out a sigh of relief and she turned to look at them again, "Sorry...I know painters who take months to finish artwork. I just really want to make this present special!" she giggled, "I'll drop by every day around 9ish. That's about when I wake up!" She turned, "And if a royal guard follows me, ignore him. It's a formality I have to be followed by tem! thanks oh so much!"

"No problem. We'll get started right away, thank you for coming by!" Acrylic said picking up her brush. Gothic had begun painting minutes  ago, and was very concentrated on her canvas. Gothic looked up at Quillina. "..." she said nothing and returned her concentration to her painting.

Quillina giggled and she started to leave, leaving a small tip for them, "I'll be here tomorrow at 9!" She hummed and danced out, pulling her royal cloak back on. She slowly danced her way back across the streets of Canterlot, letting the sun dip below and she slowly closed her eyes.

Gothic and Acrylic were out eating at a bakery. They, too had just woken up and needed breakfast. There was a note hanging on Gothic's canvas that read: "Gone to eat, be back soon!" Acrylic looked at her sister. "What is Quillina doesn't see the note?  What if she thinks we are lying to her?"  Acrylic's breaths began to become more heavier as she became more and more panicked. Gothic sighed and put a hoof on Acrylic's shoulder.  "It'll be okay, alright? It always ends up being okay."  Acrylic looked up to her sister and nodded, smiling. "I love you Gothy."

Quillina may habe been slightly nocturnal. She tended to wake up about mid-evening, and she was awake until the sun rose at roughly 5-6am. She yawned as the sun began setting, and she decided to check on the girls. When she went to the place, she found them not in the building. Her first thought was they were gone, so she simply sat down by the door and began writing a little poem to pass time, as her cutie mark showed she was a writer.

About five minutes later, Gothic and Acrylic made their way back to their canvases. Where Gothic took her seat and acknowledged Quillina with a mere glance and flicked the note off her canvas. Acrylic smiled at Quillina before sitting down. "Good morning! Sorry, we were out getting breakfast."

Quillina yawned and she looked at them, "Oh...no problem." she looked like she hadn't slept which, in reality, she hadn't. She yawned louder and then looked at Acrylic, "S-sorry I normally sleep at this point...just wanted to drop in and say hi..." She yawned again, unable to hold them back.
