Should I make a color-test base series? (Art)

So I made something of a base, originally so that I (or other people) could test different colors together for new OCs--thus why I went with just a long unremarkable mane.

Theoretically, I could make this into a series of some sort, with the 5-6 races and different mane styles and crud.

Though that would be time consuming as far as projects go.

 

Thoughts?

Would it even be worth the effort?

Colors can definitely make or break a design sometimes... 

The original plan stuck in my skull was just 'something better than ponymaker'; though I guess I can't do the mane/tail style part, just color.
