{This is my first major Fanfic. I have gotten the help from my friends and one of my teachers. I posted this on a site called ‘fimfiction.com’ and it got so many haters, but haters gonna hate. I would just like to say if I get anymore hate messages I will never write another piece of writing in my life because what the point? But anyway, I hope you enjoy my mostly finished story!}

Well, you seem to have some issues with tense (switching between past and present at several points in the story) and occasional wordiness. 

 

Also, I don't know that I'd call it much of a story at this point. It seems more like a series of disjointed scenes roughly centered around Light and Dusk (and the conflict between Luna and Celestia). Are you planning on building from what you have here? If not, what's the point of the whole thing besides "These two ponies fought against Celestia and then she killed them and now no one remembers who they were"? 

 

But overall, I wouldn't say your writing is "bad". It could use some work, though. Also, saying you're going to give up if people dislike your work isn't an attitude that is conducive to success. If you enjoy writing, keep at it and get better.

But I am going to grow this story - like HEAPS -  but this is just the rough idea of the finished product. Im always working on this story - I mean ALWAYS - and thats really why I upload what I've written to get peoples ideas

don't think like that!  I too just started my own STORY, and right off the bat, got 5 down marks, and the only comment so far is negative.  But i don't care, cause I know I'm not the best writer.  you can only improve with practice, and if you don't keep going, you'll never improve!  So keep writing!  Don't stop until the story is finished, then make a new one!  Who cares if you get hate-mail.  For myself, I intend to keep posting new chapters, no matter how many down votes it gets.  I'll do it just to spite them!  

 

fyi: just downloaded your story.  something to read on my flight back home!

I too just started my own STORY, and right off the bat, got 5 down marks, and the only comment so far is negative.

Hows 5 likes, 25 dislikes, no, wait, it was 26 dislikes and they didn't even have reasons for disliking it

yeah, and the negative comment i got was that the intro had more story info then the chapters. well, considering i only had one chapter at the time, no duh!  everyone's a critic!  lol  just keep writing for yourself.  that's what i'm doing!

I've learned long ago to treat most internet critics with a grain of salt.  Most of them are as bad as - if not, worse than - the people they are down-voting or flaming.

 

Learn how to properly give and take critiques, and only invite them from people you know and trust.  While I'm on the subject, check this out:
