music I can't believe I like One Direction

I was browsing Vevo accounts on YouTube when I happen to come across One Direction's vevo.

I just thought, meh and I was about to scroll passed their account.

Then a thought came to mind.

I usually couldn't stand their songs do to the band's typical "boy band-like" appearance in their music videos.

I just couldn't take them serious.

So I decided to do the crazy thing and listen to one of their newest hits, with my eyes closed though.

I listened to this song and...

 

It wasn't a bad song.

Believe it or not, I actually liked it.

I found their other songs quite catchy.

 

Is there any other guy out there who has listened to One Direction and actually liked their music?

The only One Direction song I have ever enjoyed beyond "ehhhhhhhhh" (and normally I don't have a response due to how little I care, and that requires effort to say)

But this song seems alot more upbeat, and isn't as creepy and patronizing as 99% of their work.

Don't be ashamed that you like One Direction. I'll admit that I am proud of their success, and they're pretty cool. It's their insane fangirls that kinda gets to me sometimes, but I stay away. I have a few songs on my playlist but I don't want to tell, nor play them in front of people because I don't want to be judged, ya know what I mean? xD 

 

My favorite is You & I, it's such a romantic song. And then there's also More Than This, great song off their first album (I think).

My friend is obsessed with them ans she begs me to listen to them, so I finally gave them a chance and I must say...

 

 

Their music sucked. It was too "poppy" for me. Even when it did have small amounts of rock put into it, it wasn't heavy enough for me. I'm a huge hard rock and metal guy, but 1D just ins't for me.

I don’t listen to One Direction, but I would say I think it’s silly to judge a band on appearance or not being considered cool and trendy, because 1D is like the band that everybody loves to hate on and make fun of.

 

If you like an artist and think there good, then it’s silly to let others opinions put you off. Just listen to what makes you happy

What's the big deal? I like them too, their songs aren't that bad and they look like pretty nice guys, of course they have insane fangirls, but trust me when i say that their haters are even worse. Maybe they aren't the best band ever, maybe they're kinda commercial, does that make them bad? No, it doesn't

There's absolutely nothing wrong with liking popular music, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.  I assumed that I hated pop just because all those around me growing up (especially in highschool!) never stopped going on and on about how horrible it is and it was always such an easy target to vent your anger and frustration, but when I actually gave it a good try I found I liked a lot of it, actually.  There's a reason pop music is popular, and it's not just because it's kind of in the name and its stars tend to be groomed to appeal to a specific audience (usually girls and young women); the music is often *actually pretty good*, or at least dang catchy.

 

Plus, one of my favorite musicians of all time by far is Michael Jackson, known as the king of pop -- ever since I really let that fact sink in I always give new pop bands a good try before just decrying them as awful.  I haven't gotten around to trying around One Direction yet but I'm sure they're nowhere near as horrible as people like to make them out to be, at least.
