Introducing Story Tail! My OC!

I worked hard on making my pony.  More specifically, I was struggling to come up with her color scheme until I got some help from someone on here.  (Thank you!)

Wasn't able to get the outlining as thick as how MLP does cuz I don't have a steady hand to trace over my original sketch.  Did this all on Gimp!

Anyway!  Her name is Story Tail, she's very imaginative and tells stories to young fillies and critters.  She's a somewhat shy pony, but not like Fluttershy.  She's meek, calm, and very friendly.  She can come up with stories on the fly but she's a bit timid to write them down as she's afraid someone could steal her stories.

I'm thinking of making an alicorn version of her for an RP that involves a lot of alicorns.  I don't plan to use her alicorn version much outside of that though, lol.

Wow awesome art! I really like her mane colors, they really fit with her name ^>^
You did this all on gimp? Wow! I can't do jack on gimp, that's really impressive :)
Best thing I can do on gimp is make backgrounds so that just makes this drawing look even better to me!

 Haha!  Thanks!

Yeah, the colors were the most struggle for me.  Second was drawing out the mane and tail because they wouldn't come out as I pictured (I had to modify the bangs from what I originally pictured cuz I just couldn't do it and it didn't look right).  Also drawing the visible hooves were a tiny bit of a pain...

Other than that, the body was pretty simple to draw when you know the basic shapes to do it.  ;)   I'd recommend looking at some of the popular tutorials on Youtube.

And the mane colors fit really well with her name?    Wouldn't have thought of that, lol.  I just pictured a simply pony with a sort of golden look to her.  I originally imagined her quite simple but added more colors and themes to her in the end!

I pictured her with a long, sweeping tail and mane (I wanted it slightly longer than Fluttershy's) that she uses to wrap around critters and children while she tells stories to them.  (She'd do that more to her siblings, lol).

Edit:  When you've taken several classes for Photoshop, it's pretty simple to adjust to Gimp.  Any experience in there?

lol, well I do follow the basic MLP style cuz it's so easy to do!

Even though I was an artist when I was younger, I've constantly got frustrated with how I drew and didn't really develop my skills.  Was kinda lazy and too much of a perfectionist, lol.  I'd get so frustrated that I'd just give up and not continue my drawing, lol, cuz I wanted it to be perfect and didn't want my image ruined.

I got frustrated not getting the character to look like how I imagined, but managed to finish this somehow, lol.

Yeah, I use to be a manga artist.  ;(  I was very frustrated with how I drew my characters.

Unfortunately, I don't think I have much time to draw now.  I'm focused on video games, college, and just doing well in life.

But ponies in the FiM style is pretty easy for me to do....  I just suck at choosing their color schemes, lol!
