What if Exodia's power source wasn't tied to Shimmon? Would he be able to beat Zorc?

 

I don't think he can, given how Zorc took a blast from him head on and was unfazed

Lets just say this. Each was sealed differently. It took Zorc a lot more power to be sealed and lots more people.

 

Exodia may be powerful but this to me is like pitting Echidna the mother of all monsters in Greek mythology with one of her children.

 

Its not just that Exodia was controlled and bound to another. Diabau was weaker yet with tricks and by absorbing others' abilities could defeat stronger beasts.

 

Exodia seemed to just be raw destructive power. It wasn't really a wonder he was split to 5 pieces a clever tactic to constrain him.

 

Its like what they say at hard challenges. It doesn't need labor... It needs wit. And to me Exodia possesed none.

Is that a good example? Echidna didn't really display any sort of special skill or power. Cerberus and the Hydra can probably take her, a case could be made for the Chimera

Yeah, but in Yugioh, raw power is kind of king. It's the reason why traps and spells do absolute crap to the god cards, they're just so powerful, such tricks simply don't work on them. Exodia is more powerful than the gods, if only based on the fact that he was judged too powerful whilst the gods were perfectly legit

Zorc is also just raw destructive power, his reaction to the gods gaining the edge was weakening them so he could crush them

And Zorc possessed little as well. The smartest thing he did(in his giant monster form, because Yami Bakura is him) was blot out the Sun to make the gods weaker, hardly a large leap in intelligence

 

I do think Zorc wins, but only because he can punch harder by a slight amount, given how well he took Exodia's blast

Zorc was already revealed to be more powerful than Exodia. That's why it took Horakhty to beat him.

One could make the argument that Exodia is an equal, given how he's forbidden, much like Horakhty. The difference was that Exodia didn't have a good power source

There isn't too much difference. Sure, there are some guns and more cursing, but the guns are hardly ever used(magic trumps them). There is a lot more death, but it's minor changes(Valon's brother being sent to a work camp instead of being killed by a tank shell). Sometimes the changes actually make it more violent(Marik's back is done with tatoos in 4Kids, which is worse than a simple knife carving, due to the primitive tech his family has)

 

And there is plenty of Egyptian Stuff, especially later on

In what way? Because later on in the series, things get darker than the Marik Saga. Yami Yugi gets pissed off enough to nearly murder someone by continously slashing them even after winning the duel, Yugi outright dies, and Exodia gets bisected by a dragon dicked devil monster

Depends on what you count as arcs. I'm not sure if you finished the Virtual World Arc(such crappy filler), the one with Noah Kaiba. 

 

Anyway, 4th Arc is really good, despite being filler. Tons of morality stuff flying around because of a thing that brings out inner evil

 

5th Arc is the best though.

the second arc was too long.

 

the first one was just as good as the second imo.

 

but im talking about the arc DIRECTLY after the Marik arc

Yeah, that'd be Waking the Dragons or DOMA Arc. That one is really good imo, Marik looks like an idiot compared to the villain in this one.

IMO, Millenium World, which is the final arc, is the best

 

As for GX, I personally like the English Dub, but the changes are far more drastic compared to the original Yugioh. Also, the English dub literally cuts out the final arcs, which are the best ones. 

 

For GX, if you want something that is somewhat kiddish, look at the 4Kids version. For seriousness and demon possession, go for Japanese or the manga

 

Then there's 5Ds and Zexal, which I have no authority on
