Hive King 2,001 November 13, 2014 Share November 13, 2014 Why would Chrysalis up suspicion by making a threat against Canterlot? That would be like Sunset Shimmer leaving a note by the portal a month early and putting a note saying "gona tak cron, k thnx bie". There's no reason for Chrysalis to make this threat unless she's so arrogant, she wants to them to up security so she feels better about herself. Granted, the security in Canterlot is garbage, but still. Alternatively, it could just be coincidental timing with a threat from some lunatic pony, but if that's the case, why even bring it up in the episode and why is everyone so worried? Celestia was going to be standing right there during the wedding 1 "Aren’t we the same? You know, aren’t you carrying the same mindset as I am? Just because you couldn’t bear to lose, you lost your precious partner! You really call yourself a true duelist? You’re the complete opposite of that!" -Weevil Underwood
Moonlight 7,291 November 13, 2014 Share November 13, 2014 I'm willing to assume it's because everyone would be so focused on protecting Canterlot, that they wouldn't even suspect Cadence of being Chrysalis in the first place. Just a distraction, I'm guessing. matching setups with my bff pathfinder

Just a distraction, I'm guessing. The Mane 6 who had nothing to do with the protection were unable to see through her disguise(maybe Chrysalis radiates an aura of stupidity, since it was a bad disguise), I doubt that the incompetent guards would do much better "Aren’t we the same? Nuke87654 1,849 November 13, 2014 Share November 13, 2014 It was never explained how they found the information that an attack was imminent. For all we know it was never intended for the info to be leaked but some pony found that info and had Canterlot on high alert because of it. Hive King 2,001 November 13, 2014 Author Share November 13, 2014 It was never explained how they found the information that an attack was imminent. For all we know it was never intended for the info to be leaked but some pony found that info and had Canterlot on high alert because of it. It wasn't a leak, the wording was "A threat has been made against Canterlot" If the wording was "We found evidence of a threat against Canterlot" Your argument would hold water. But it sounds to me like the threat was deliberate, you know, like a letter saying "Lolz, all teh luv is mine. U r gng to fail xD" "Aren’t we the same? Nuke87654 1,849 November 13, 2014 Share November 13, 2014 But Shining Armor didn't say who it was who made the threat nor clarified how they know about it. All it showed was simply was that a threat was made against Canterlot. However, since that element was so poorly explained in the episode that frankly any point can be correct. King Sejong 859 November 13, 2014 Share November 13, 2014 (edited) It is a classic military strategy, Japan issued a warning prior to the Russo-Japanese War before they attacked the Russian Pacific Fleet at Port Arthur, by announcing their pre-emptive strike, it caused the enemy to become stressed, into making mistakes and rash decisions, it worked and the Imperial Japanese Navy defeated the Russians, this strategy was repeated by Germany, which also made a prior threat before invading Poland and France, then Egypt used the same strategy in the Yom Kimpur War. Queen Chrysalis was quite a military strategist, it was all in the execution, how to carry out the mission in a way the enemy would not expect, Chrysalis made a threat against Canterlot, but it was not clear to the ponies on how this assault would come, as a result, she very nearly succeed in conquering Canterlot, it took a deus ex machina to win the day, if it were not for that it would have been a military, political and diplomatic victory. That may actually be the best explanation for that threat. Brilliant insight, Emperor Peter.
