My Favourite Mane 6 Pony: Fluttershy

How did you find MLP Forums?: I googled "my little pony forum" or something similar and ended up here.

How you became a fan of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic: My little sister watches MLP: FIM and I watch cartoons with her sometimes. I watched it with my little sister a few years ago and fell in love. It's just too cute and I like cute stuff.

I'm a 17-year-old girl from Europe. My favourite pony is Fluttershy because she is so gentle and kind and I can relate to her. I enjoy learning languages... that's really all I'm good for. There's nothing interesting about me so I don't know what else to tell. Bye then

I've been trying to learn some Finnish from my very close friend, who also is from Finland.. But it's really hard to read and write in it! I'm very fond of languages, I'd looove to learn some Finnish from you if I can, and if you'd like to teach me.    Nice to meet you, neighbor!

Yeah. It's mandatory to study Swedish in Finland. Yay, that'd be fun. Jag kan försöka men jag kan bara lite svenska  du har rätt, det skulle faktiskt vara jätteroligt. Aw that's nice. I'd like to teach you some Finnish.. although I guess Finnish is a bit difficult.

I've heard that. ;-; I think it's so weird though, why would you need to learn Swedish that bad??? I know our countries are pretty much related to each other, we've got plenty to do with one another, but we in Sweden don't have to learn Finnish... So I don't get the deal at all! Aww, nej men det låter ju som att du är jätteduktig på svenska. :3 Vi kan ju försöka, så får du säga om det är något du inte förstår?? Så kan jag förklara på engelska istället.

 

I'd love to challenge myself learning some Finnish. I'd love to get to know the basics, to start off! <3 I'll PM you more about it.

Because although the Swedish-speaking population of Finland has been shrinking over the years, Swedish is one of the official languages of Finland.

 

It's a similar situation with Gaelic in Ireland. Very few people use it as their day-to-day language, but it's one of the official languages, so everybody learns it in school. (More people in Ireland speak Polish on a day-to-day basis than Gaelic. Fact.)

 

Also probably learning Swedish is useful if they want to go on to learn Norwegian or Danish which are quite similar languages to Swedish. (Finnish is a very different from most other European languages. It's only major relatives are Estonian and Hungarian.)

Teach me your ways too, @@Royce. I also want to learn Danish! I already know plenty of Norwegian, since I'm from the part of Sweden that's the closest to Norway.. My original Swedish accent sounds very similar Norwegian.

About learning Swedish being mandatory in Finland... what Vital Spark said, he/she explained it pretty clearly. About 5% of Finland's population are "finlandssvenskar" so it can be useful to know Swedish in some parts of Finland where there are more Swedish-speaking people. Aw, tack du är så snäll. Jag har studerat svenska cirka tre år nu. Jag förstår nästan allting.. det är bara svårt att skriva själv ;_;

Doesn't it sound a bit like Swedish too? Apparently it doesn't, I checked. At least it looks like Swedish when it's written. I may as well try to learn Danish when I've mastered Swedish first.
