AmberDust 1,118 December 11, 2014 Share December 11, 2014 Why are some topics pinned? Is it because they're made by staff members? Or are they just considered crucial information in a given section? I've noticed that some sections have more than others, and frankly, the amount of pinned topics in the creative resources section in particular is kind of annoying. I know it's not a huge issue, but it makes navigating especially annoying when you're using the mobile website. A lot of these topics haven't been adressed in a while, and I'm sure some of them could be combined. I for one would really appreciate it if a few of these were unpinned. Besides, if they were really that important, I'm sure thud find their way back to the top of the list through other means. Don't you think? 2 Need help with your OC? I'd love to assist you! Jeric 46,850 December 11, 2014 Share December 11, 2014 Why are some topics pinned? The information in some topics contains information that is either popular, or critical. Is it because they're made by staff members? Usually, but not always. Or are they just considered crucial information in a given section? Yes, or important to new users. I've noticed that some sections have more than others Depends on the section, yes. Q&A has resources that are set up to explain how to search the knowledge base and use the reporting system. Canterlot has quite a bit right now as we are still running a fundraiser. FiM has the most popular topics pinned. I know it's not a huge issue, but it makes navigating especially annoying when you're using the mobile website I personally use the IPB Mobile version for 50% of my visits here, and I honestly consider this one of the least obtrusive things in the UX. A lot of these topics haven't been adressed in a while, and I'm sure some of them could be combined. We can look at Creative Resources and make a determination on use and need. Besides, if they were really that important, I'm sure thud find their way back to the top of the list through other means. Don't you think? No, that is a common UX fallacy. You need to provide the intended user will the likely resources at an easy access point. 'Moving up' assumes that they are meant to be posted in. Not all pinned topics are ... they are only meant to be read. Either way we can review. I know I have consolidated items in the MLPF Section. However, if new user click rate on these topics is high enough, they will stay pinned.
