How should the MLP movie turn out?

Personally, of the two poll choices, I prefer it as something similar to The Simpsons Movie or EQG in itself: a part of FIM's continuity, yet allowable to skip over so you don't need to watch it to get familiar with the series.

 

^Essential, especially if one hopes not to have every critic review/general audience member get distracted by total confusion instead of enjoying the candy colored cinematic equines. Save the continuity-farming, Wrath of Khan exploits for the sequel.

I'd like for it to be a series as long as the MLP team doesn't run out of ideas and make the sequels crappy. I'm hoping the animation quality is the best it's ever been considering how long we have to wait for it. The story and plot needs to be like a super long episode with consistent quality throughout the entire thing, but I wouldn't mind if it got super epic towards the end like most movies do. I'll be very disappointed if they end up using CGI. Also, it has to be canon. Any sort of characterization or other changes need to stay into season 6 or 7 depending on how far the show got by then. We barely know anything about this movie, but I'm already so hyped!
