Tyra readily took the apple and chomped into it, crunching into it loudly and happily.

"You have a fiancé?" She tried to say through her full mouth, chunks of apple spitting onto the floor, "What is she like?" She then swallowed, being a pony of varying priorities.

The young mare spotted the fish swimming upstream, and despite the apple in her mouth, she licked her lips hungrily and began to remember how she would go fishing with her father as a filly. And with the fire lit, she could have a nice cooked salmon right now...

"To tell you the truth, there are no words in the Equestrian Language that can describe her, Beautiful; that is an understatement. Kind, intelligent, all of them... understatements" He said. "But most of all, she is going to kill me for coming to this fucking island..." He said. He knocked a small pebble into the stream, causing the fish to scatter for a moment. He looked at the night sky, it reminded him of his fiance even more "She was one of Luna's personal bodyguards... I'm a general's bodyguard. So her and I go together like..." He thought of an analogy "Like a pegasus and flying..."

Tyra scowled at the scattered fish, her cheeks still stuffed with apple. She swallowed and finished up the fruit while listening to Chronos, tossing the core over her shoulder toward the fire. It should burn nicely when she goes back over to pop it in.

"Why would she kill you for coming here?" She inquired, her eyes still on the stream as she awaited the fish's return. Perhaps, if she was fast, she could catch one in her teeth, like the wolves and bears back home. Or perhaps she could find something nearby and fashion a spear or harpoon...

"The fact that only 13% of the ponies that come here come back and that I left before we were even married, she is my fiance, not my wife. My explanation was that if I do die, at least she wouldn't have become a widow, a week after her getting married. So yeah... If this island doesn't kill me, she will"  He said noticing Tyra was eyeing the fish. He took his sword and was able to stab a good sized one, about a foot in length. He pulled out his sword from the stream, the fish on the tip of his sword. He took the fish off with his magic and looked at it. "From the look on your face, you must be a pony that eats meat." He said.

Tyra watched intently as Chronos stabbed into the water, and pulled out a fish on the tip of the blade. She grinned with anticipation as she watched it hover in his magic.

"Oh yes!" She yelped, "Meat is essential to be a strong warrior! Fish, rabbit, boar, anything we can find really!" She glanced up at him. "Well, aside from pony, of course."

Her gaze returned to the fish, eyeing it expectingly. She was tempted to just grab it from his magical grip and cook it over the fire.

"We got something in common then..." He said as he stood up and used his shield like a cutting board. He cut off the fish's head and gutted it. He took his blade and He gutted the fish and looked at Tyra "try and catch some more, one fish will not do." He said as he used his magic to remove the eternal organs of the fish. Chronos would sometimes had to eat rabbit, fish, and turkey while in the griffon kingdom when the troops were running out of fruit and vegetables. Luckily the Griffon Kingdom, Griffons being omnivores had a good supply of farms and ranches. So Milk, Eggs, Seafood, and Poultry were major parts of his diet during the  2191 days war, the conflict between Equestria and the Griffon Kingdom.

Tyra nodded and glanced down at the stream, stalking the fish. Her axe, as powerful as it was, would probably scare them away before it came down on them, so she'd have to rely on herself. Her father's training would do her no good, since she had no harpoon in hoof.

She recalled, as a filly, watching the wolves and bears of the wilderness around Trotstheim, how they would remain totally still at the water, before lunging in and chomping down on their prey. She remembered trying it herself, with equal good and bad results.

It was the best she had now.

She targeted a fish and prepared herself nice and slowly, watching it swim leisurely in place. She jerked her head in with a splash and grabbed the fish in her teeth, causing the others to scatter.

"Haha!" She laughed in her teeth and looked up at Chronos, face dripping wet and her grin wide and toothy with a flopping fish between them.

Chronos descaled the fish and removed the fins until there were just a clean piece of meat on his shield that was large in diameter but only a centimeter thick. He looked at Tyra and said "Nice catch" He took the fish and began to do the same thing he did to the last fish, cutting off the head, gutting it, descaling and removing the fins and cleaning the meat. "Try and catch maybe 2 more." He said.

Tyra's tail swished happily from Chronos' compliment, and she let go of the fish and nodded at his instruction. She lowered down to the water, glaring at the fish beneath the surface, and struck again. Another fish in her teeth. She allowed Chronos to take it, and repeated the attack on one more.

"There, now we may cook them!" Is what she wanted to say, but the fish flopping in her mouth made talking a little awkward.

Nymphaea reentered the clearing just as Chronos began filleting the second catch of salmon, in her mouth hung the limp body of another rabbit that had been unluckily enough to run across her path as she headed back to the camp. Seeing the carved up fish on his shield she quickly threw back her head and swallowed the the bloody carcass of the small creature, freeing her mouth for speech.

"I was worried you ate only vegetation. Good, this will make it much easier to keep you alive when edible foliage becomes scarce" the kelpie spoke as she took a seat, keeping a wary distance between her and the fire.

Chronos finished up all the fish and said "Yep... lets get cooking..." He used his magic to gather sticks and made kind of a stand in which was above the fire so that the fish were not completely in the fire. He set the fish on the stand, similar to how laundry is slung over lines for drying. The stand consisted of two sticks on each side of the fire pit that held a fifth stick over the fire in which the fish were set on. "Just give that a few minutes and they will be wellth done." He said. He then turned to the Kelpie "You have to learn how to expand your range of foods in your diet when your low on rations."

"Ah, you have returned!" Tyra announced, spotting the Kelpie and bounding over to her like a dog to its owner, "We are preparing some fish, if you'd like some!"

She vigorously shook her face dry of water, spraying droplets this way and that.

"Caught them myself," She proudly informed the other mare, whose obvious lack of interest was lost on her, "I hope it's salmon, it's my favourite!"

Nymphaia showed no reaction as water from Tyra's coat splashed across her face.

"I have already hunted, you need the food more than I regardless" she answered curtly with a wave of her cloven hoof. Looking up the kelpie could see a large white moon climbing over the trees, illuminating part of the night. Noticing the mare haf yet to leave Nymphaea growled. "Is there something else you wish to tell me, or did you merely come to gloat on your ability to catch fish?"

Chronos sat down on the opposite side of the fire as the kelpie "Can you stop being so aggressive, We may be different species but that does not mean we must continue hostilities." Chronos said before looking at Tyra "Don't forget the fact I caught the first one." He said before he looked into the flame. He sheathed his blade and looked up at the night sky. He whispered something and looked down at the others. "If we wish to survive this night then we must learn to stop being so aggressive. All of us are guilty of aggression to one another. It seems that everything on this island is trying to kill us, except for the creature that sits across from me. Even though she has not been the kindest to us and was planning on killing us." he looked at the Kelpie and said "Can we set our differences aside for the night?" He asked.

He prayed on the inside that she would agree.

Tyra nodded firmly, Chronos' words fully understood. She carried a strong belief that camaraderie was the key to a group's survival, not just strength.

"Indeed, we must not keep arguing with each other," she began, sounding rather serious for the first time, "This island wants to isolate us and make us easier to defeat, but it will only make us stronger!"

She looked to the kelpie and stuck out a hoof to her, in hopes that she'd accept it. "We have overlooked your attempt to kill us, surely you can trust us now!"

Nymphaea stood and faced the forest, refusing to make eye contact with either of the ponies.

"I was not born on this island"  she began slowly, "I was taken here a slave of an ancient and magical race, the Fremmeds. Using a hexed bridle they were able to bind my will and my soul, forcing me to work their fields and carry stone. When I escaped I raged for years, hunting down and killing the filthy magicians who captured and abused me." The kelpie paused for a second as if remembering something better left forgotten, as she resumed there was a barely noticeable hint of sadness on her voice; "do not assume that you are the first I have entrusted to help me find freedom." Finally she turned and faced her companions, "I have refrained from killing you in return for your aid, do not ask for me to be pleasant as well."

"Your story is a sad one, but if we cannot stop hostilities and fighting each other then none of us will leave this island alive... A house divided can not stand. " Chronos stood up and turned his back on the group "So... shall we learn to stop fighting... or shall we all die on this Island, I don't know about you creature, but I would like to live to see my fiance again." He said. His armor reflected the moonlight and stars, he looked at the moon and whispered a silent prayer. "Nox et luna dea est, obsecro, nobiscum congregati hac insula..."

He sighed, hopefully his prayers will be answered and the Kelpie will decide to stop the fighting and arguments.

The kelpie was unsure what angered her more; Chronos' literal and strict perception of the world, or Tyra's overwhelming displays of emotion. At least the sellsword seemed to be accepting her for what she was, though time could only tell if that would end for the better or worse.

"I already ate, go feed yourself. I will wait here" she said, curling her spindly legs underneath her as she lay down on the thin bed of grass and leaves.

Chronos didn't truly see the kelpie as just a simple creature. He could tell by the fact she has her own language and seemed to learn Equestrian, that she was more then just some animal. Why does he continue to call her creature? He didn't know, maybe it was the fact she tried to kill him and consume his corpse, maybe it was prejudice because he had come from such an advance society and now that he came upon a being of a simpler society, he sees it as an animal in comparison, or maybe it was because she refused to tell him her name or what she was, so he just calls her creature so she knew he was talking to her, or maybe.... It was all of them. He didn't know...

He stared into the stream and put on his helmet. He sighed and looked at the twinkling of the moon's and stars' reflection on the stream. He looked back at Tyra and the kelpie with one eye, he then looked back to the stream and laid down, the tip of his hooves in the cool water. He began to think about home, his fiance, and where believed he belonged; the battlefield. He was basically bred for it. Being the son of a knight and one of the richest mares in Canterlot, so he was a bred Noble and Soldier. It was mostly all he knew... Being rich and cutting down the foes of the Equestrian Crown.

Tyra frowned at the Kelpie, wondering if she'd ever trust them, before going back to tend to the fish. She disliked the two of them, that much was obvious, so much so that every attempt to offer her friendship was thrown back in her face.

She wasn't a quitter of course; she was still confident she could get her to open up. Or at least tell them her name.

"Ah, I believe the fish are ready!" She called over to Chronos, and no doubt the Kelpie had heard her also. She gave one of the hanging fish a poke with her hoof, the burning sensation almost nonexistent on her tough body.

She began to reach over and grab it with her teeth, before the fear of setting herself on fire stopped her. As durable as she was, being set ablaze would still hurt badly. She knew that from experience.

"Though in all seriousness I can keep a secret. Besides even if I blabbed no one would take a street urchin like me seriously anyway." I say in a reassuring manner.

I spread the sleeping mat Atlas so kindly lent me out on the ground, and begin to settle down. The stars were already shinning brightly in the sky as I began to relax. My eyes immediately darted upwards to the sky to take in the sight, it had been years since I've been able gaze upon the night sky like this. The lights of Manehatten truly did a disservice to Luna's beautiful nights.

I smile softly to myself, only to hide the sorrow in my heart.

"Anyway, what were you trying to tell me?"
