Tom Snyder 4,112 February 6, 2015 Share February 6, 2015 (edited) Age: Mare Gender: Female Species: Unicorn Cutie Mark: Her cutie mark is a heart, representing her affinity for the lower class ponies and orphans alike. Personality: Benevolent Heart has an affinity for those who had to go through what she had to before her family made it to the top. But she can't feel as happy for those below them; her parents may be snobs, but she feels differently about the lower class. So she searches them out and gives them the means to keep living with a smile on their face and their head held high, many have become friends with her, she even invites them to her home to help them with a new outfit or two. She has her connections and they are more than willing to do her a few favors, they owe her that much. Backstory: Benevolent Heart was born in manehattan, in the lower class district. Her family barely survived off the bits the father was earning from his job. Saddened by this, both mother and father looked to other means to get the bits to pay off the bills. This involved gambling, running errands for smugglers, you name it. If it payed bits, it didn't matter to them. But Benevolent Heart knew this was wrong and tried to make them stop, but their greed had overtaken them. It wasn't until 3 years pass, that the family has gained enough bits to afford a new home in the high class district, the mansion they now own feels to her like a dirty secret, which she never tells anyone about. she was just the same as her parents were at one point in time, but meeting her new friends slowly changes her viewpoint and she seems to not associate herself with her parents anymore and doesn't answer the letters. So seeing them whenever she is in manehattan is not a quiet conversation, its where she shows her worst side by letting them know how much she hates them; but yet holds some love for them in the end. Her mother and father are now happy that they don't have to struggle anymore, they were higher and didn't care about anypony else but themselves, Benevolent Heart, however, did care. She would go out and find those less fortunate and give what she could to them, which has earned her praise and many friends. Now she lives in her own place, away from the corruption of the aristocrat ponies. ShadOBabe 19,011 February 6, 2015 Share February 6, 2015 (edited) Not a bad set up, but she sounds like a complete saint. I'm all for characters that are good. Being good and kind is NOT unrealistic. Po-Nonimous 583 February 6, 2015 Share February 6, 2015 I really like your character, she's really something! I also really like the back story. Your character shows real integrity and a truly kind heart. That's a rare thing in any world, I would imagine, especially in a large city. Nice job on both your drawing and your character idea and back story. Po-Nonimous 583 February 6, 2015 Share February 6, 2015 I have a hard time coming up with those right now. Some suggestions: First, no child ever grows up completely free of influence from their parents. Possible flaws: a deeply buried greedy trait that she has to constantly fight to keep under control? Perhaps a compulsion to steal, which could also be something else she has to fight within herself? Conversely a blind, raging hatred for anything like what her parents did to the point that it warps her thinking and clouds her judgement? Perhaps an unfounded bias and prejudice against wealthy ponies, thinking that they all got their wealth through theft, lies and other evil things? Hey, they're just some suggestions but I'll bet you could come up with stuff that's even way better than that! Me and amberdust decided to try the one where she was just the same as her parents were at one point in time, but meeting her new friends slowly changes her viewpoint and she seems to not associate herself with her parents anymore and doesn't answer the letters. That she was just as bad and didn't care, but maybe something happened to give her a change of heart? 2 Check out my artwork any time: http://shadobabe.deviantart.com/ "OMG; You are such a troll.
