newfrickinshow 100 February 18, 2015 #1 Share February 18, 2015 With my tax returns coming and season 5 approaching I'm looking for a new microphone to use on my computer so I can record some blind reactions. Anybody have any recommendations on a mic that works well or would like to inform me of one that I should avoid? Any info helps, thanks. Sharp Cookie says it's time to rock out with your cook out. HunterTSN 1,444 February 18, 2015 #2 Share February 18, 2015 (edited) Look into Blue microphones, specifically Blue: Snowball. I have one and, while I wouldn't recommend it for singing or professional recording, it definitely does it's job as far as relatively inexpensive mics go ($30-$50) and for what you're doing I think it will work fine. http://www.bluemic.com/snowball/ Edited February 18, 2015 by HunterTSN 2 Your very own Victorian-styling, airship-flying, super-sizing, brass-lining, quick-drying, detoxifying, low-pricing, newbie-knifing, over-driving, sometimes-hiding, unsurprising, ninja-fighting, perfect-timing, always-smiling, never-lying, best at writing, also rhyming automaton! In a couple days we'll see if that'll work for me or if I need to invest in some better recording/video editing software since my current options don't work too well. Camera app likes to mess up and Windows Movie Maker doesn't really look that great quality wise. May poke around there as well but we'll see how things go with the new mic first. Thanks. 1 Sharp Cookie says it's time to rock out with your cook out.

Hope it works for you. I suggest making your recording area is as silent as possible, keeping the mic levels turned low, and bringing the mic close to your face. One problem I've had with it is that it is really sensitive and can pick up sounds like ceiling fans and loud voices in perpendicular rooms. If you do what I said above however you shouldn't have too many issues. Snow Frostflame 3,568 February 22, 2015 #5 Share February 22, 2015 well I know little on good mic's but I use the 360 Kinect.... makes my voice sound a tad deeper and it is pretty reliable..... but if you want a high quality mic go with Hunter's idea probably better choice.... Freewave 1,145 February 22, 2015 #6 Share February 22, 2015 Blue snowball is a good basic microphone but if you ever want to do better sounding ones (vocals for songs) it falls a little short. Blue Yeti is a good step above it. Here's some other recommendations from FIMMUSIC for those looking for additional advice. http://fimmusic.tumblr.com/tagged/microphones Not recommended ^ 1 I have made brony music since 2011. I like all kinds of music and genres. I'm sure you'll like some of it.. Here's My YouTube..I have several albums on Bandcamp and Pony.FM. Check out the 20+ Musician project Maressey which I am running. Check out the Brony Music Directory and FimMusic. A portal to all things Brony + Music. AspenSwift 153 February 23, 2015 #7 Share February 23, 2015 I have a Logitech G330 headset, and it works like a charm. Even when recording in open rooms and mildly noisy environments, you can't hear background noise in the audio at all. The youtuber EthosLab (over 1.5 million subs) uses one daily, and his recordings sound professional. It is $60, but for the price it's really good. There are better out there, but none are as cheap.
