This would give me a chance to stick in best pony...

...Nope, not even then. No problems with the CMC, but three issues with doing that currently:

 

1: Adding the Mane Six, Celestia, Luna, Cadence, Trixie, Maud Pie, Discord, and my own OC's(Sleight Mist, Anette, and Rain Shadow) that's 18 characters that i'd have to keep track of here. I'm obviously not doing them all at the same time, but you get the point; i'd rather not add in characters that don't serve an explicit function.

 

2: Those suckers are hard to write! Literally the hardest characters for me to write in canon. I'd be sitting here for days trying to figure out how to write them well. Celestia help me if I had to write all three at the same time...

 

3. With the silent plot that's going on, there's no way any of the Mane Six would keep their younger siblings here. (Yes, there's a silent plot.)

 

edit: I'm not stopping you guys from sticking them in if you really want to. Just letting you know my personal reasons.

There's definitely something going on. It's not an essential thing to the RP, obviously, just something interesting i'm building up on with the canon characters in the background that you may be able to catch onto with your characters. This can't be just any random fighting tournament, after all.

If your character notices something suspicious, feel free to try to have them figure it out( obviously not everypony will be interested in solving mysteries, though.).   An easy question to start with: why are all the princesses here?
