Tom Snyder 4,113 April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 I saw art of Celestia with a pink mane and tail, but i don't think it ever was to begin with; it feels more fan-made than canon. We see a bunch of fics with that image in mind, one where Luna suggests she takes the day off and have fun. But is later found out after Twilight has spike send a letter to her and drops at her hooves; breaking her cover. The mane she has now is the one i believe she always had, there was never any mention of what her mane was before then. All we ever see is that multi-colored mane and tail, nothing more. But Luna's case seems to bring evidence to the table that this may have been true at one point. Luna was shown with that starlight mane and tail before she lost her power. Celestia on the other hand, doesn't seem to lose her mane's appearance with loss of her magic in S5, she keeps hers the way it is. WindShear 545 April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 (edited) I think the reason some people think that Celestia may have had a pink mane at one point is because she is shown with a pink mane/tail in the opening story book scene. Yeah, but you never see it again after that; so its hard to say if it that was the case. I thought since it happened to Luna, then celestia might have the same thing happen to her; but we saw that wasn't the case. So it seems this was just a story. So we may never know if this was her actual mane. Unikitty 1,212 April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 (edited) I wrote a lengthy passage about this elsewhere. But the predominant theory(at least from my eyes) is that as they grow in power and age, their bodies become more akin to the goddess structure of alicorns as we see them today. This could be referencing long ago, when the two sisters were still quite young. As we can see, Princess Luna in that image befits her season 1 design more than her later 'evolved' form. I think of Nightmare Moon's destruction and the loss of the alicorns' powers due to Tirek, to be two different situations. NMM wasn't Luna. It was all of her anger and magical power manifested into an embodiment of evil. When NMM was expelled, it left behind the true form of Luna, as she had been when it first began to take over. Over time, the reformed Luna was able to grow into the alicorn we currently see her as. Perhaps she was always aging, but due to having been trapped in NMM for so long, it took a while for the transgression to take place. It'd be a convincing un-canon way of justifying her absence from the show for a good while after. When the Luna, Celestia, and Cadance were giving their power to Twilight, it wasn't like NMM. They had already grown into their current bodies, and I see the magic given to Twilight as being their natural magical power. They weren't giving away their entire life force. Just their ability to use magic. This also explains why Twilight didn't suddenly become an alicorn as the others appear. Also to note, Cadance, whilst being an alicorn has shown to be physically different to her past self, supporting the idea that the true-alicorn form is something you gain with age, and not purely about power. Thie is also seen in Twilight as she's subtly grown taller and more like a true-alicorn. There's a lot of unknowns surrounding the two, but I think this makes the most sense. Alicorns develop over time, and it isn't solely dependent on how much magic they have. Nightmare Moon was a manifestation of hatred and evil, so the magic took on a form to fit that. Sugar Pea 2,683 April 23, 2015 Share April 23, 2015 Take Cadence's hair for example, it's unnaturally multicolored. So if I had to say the same about Celestia, i'd say that her mane has always been like that. Even in that two parter showing Celestia and Luna's past, it rule out the possibility because the elements of harmony sure didn't make it that way. lolI mean, if you guys got any form of evidence to show she isn't, show me because this is the only thing I can conjure up about this. I'm all ears. ℓ٥ﻻ ﻉ√٥υ

Tom Snyder 4,113 April 24, 2015 Author Share April 24, 2015 Well, we actually do see her again with that pink mane in another bit of backstory; this time with Scorpan. I stand corrected, thank you. But what i want to know is if celestia ever had a pink mane as the story page shows, could have been a mistake or something. //// My persona and OC: Candy Star //// Ask me anything: Ask Candy Star //// My Music //// //// My DA: (OC requests available) ////
Prince Firemane 309 April 24, 2015 Share April 24, 2015 I stand corrected, thank you. But what i want to know is if celestia ever had a pink mane as the story page shows, could have been a mistake or something. Doubtful. The drawings are simplified, so I imagine that she was given a pink mane just to match the style.
