movies/tv Has a kids network ever embraced a cartoon's periphery demographic?

There are a lot of cartoons that mainly target children, but are also enjoyed among adults. But has a network ever tried to embrace and encourage the older fan-base, while still making sure the target audience watches as well?

Cartoon Network sounds like what yer talking about for the most part.  Along with Adult swim being a thing, some of their shows occasionally take tonal shifts to who are watching the shows.  The only one that comes to mind for me is Teen Titans (started off pretty goofy and then got pretty grim at times) but I'm sure there are other examples.

Honestly, I feel that most shows don't need to pander so much (they DO, which is a problem).  If a show is good and speaks to anybody willing to listen, that's all it needs to do really.
