I've been thinking, with episode 100 a mere few hours away, there's definitely, going to be headcanons broken and ships sunk like the Titanic. No doubt about it. All because people hold too high an expectation for how things play out and how characters sound, in their own minds, and set themselves up for disappointment, when the show proves them wrong. So I ask you guys- is it better to not have headcanons at all, and spare yourself what disappointment that may come with canon, when it knocks down those expectations you built? Or is it better to have headcanons, but know where to draw the line and not build up such heavy expectation and hype for the canon to follow your personal fanon?

Head cannons are fine in my opinion. But don't set up high expectations and throw a fit if they're broken or if your ships sink under the Lost City of Altas with the Titantic. After all, it's the writer's choices and they're in charge and can do what they want because they own the characters themselves. They're like the writer's own OCs, you can think of it that way.

Besides, it's rather too plainly obvious LyraBon or maybe DoctorDerpy won't become cannon.

Some headcannons could make sense or can be proved with cannon. It seems obvious Lyra and Bon Bon are best friends (for some reason I dislike them both as lovers and friends. I don't know, I guess it's just me.)

Though I'm not sure about others like Doctor Whooves actually being the doctor. It's kinda comfirmed he is because for the I think 50th annavarisy of Doctor Who, there was a list of official doctors and pony Dr was actually on it (I'm dead serious) and he seemed to have a British accent in the promo commercial for the episode.

 

But yes, I completely agree. I bet my money most of the Pegasister and Brony fandom will be disappointed at most of the headcannons that will be broken. And some may even rage. Possibly. I'm really hoping the new episode will be worth the hype as it seems to be.

 

I bet you 6 bits that everyone will rage or be disappointed if Nowhacking's voice is not used for Vinyl's voice or if they use s voice actress with a voice similar to Nowhacking since Nowhacking is how everyone sees Vinyl. I bet 10 bits if Vinyl doesn't speak at all. (Actually, make that 11 because I'd be pretty angry too if Vinyl doesn't talk at all.)

I guess I'm lucky because I don't really have any expectations or headcanons surrounding the background ponies.  I like them, and I know their names, but I'm not going to rage about anything because I haven't built anything up.  (I don't even know who Nowhacking is.  GoldKingdomKeyblade's post is the first I've ever heard of the name.)

 

I do have some headcanons, but I highly doubt that they will, or even can, be proven wrong.  The fanfic Simply Rarity is a headcanon of mine.  Another is that Rainbow started the "Fluttershy can hardly fly" chant back at flight camp.  Good luck proving that wrong, Hasbro!  Let's see...another one is that Daring Do is not in fact real, and that that entire event was an elaborate hoax put on by Consumer Recreation Services at the order of Twilight.

I think it's okay if you have a headcanon, if you can accept the fact that some of these have the chance that they don't become canon in the show. They can be very good, if you're Fanfic writer or even a Roleplayer, but don't hold them too high on a pedestal, like they're canon.

 

For me,  i barely have any. The ones i have i merely use for like fanfics and roleplays. I wouldn't be sad if they never happen. Maybe i will be sad for 10 minutes, but after that i go on.

highly disagree with you on headcanons not being destroyed. Oh, they most certainly will.

Best tell the fans that built them up to calm down. Because they're the ones going to be having triplets, when it is.

Equestria is a Parliamentary Democracy, with Celestia and Luna co-ruling as the monarchical crown.

Celestia and Luna are not immortal, but extremely long lived.

Celestia, Luna, Discord, Sombra, Tirek and Scorpan are not the only beings of this exceptionally long life cycle; certain kinds of Magic may extend one's life. Thus the Elements of Harmony and Princess of Love probably have greatly extended lifespans, as well as many ponies exposed to them through everyday contact to them or their magic.

Equestria has no federal or municipal police forces, since crime is nearly nonexistent.

Fluttershy and Rarity knew each other before the events of S1E1 Friendship is Magic; their weekly spa sessions has carried on before then too.

Rainbow Dash or Fluttershy or both have an as-yet unmentioned sibling(s) as well.

Gummi the Alligator is literate.

Rarity is bilingual.

An exceptionally well-put-together insurance company is responsible for the restoration of Ponyville after episodes where large portions of the town are destroyed without apparently inconveniencing anypony.

 

What I do is invent headcanons which either facilitate possible or likely outcomes of future episodes based upon the past history of the show, or invent them based upon directions and characterizations which the show would probably never address. (Though in doing so, I always try to make characterizations and directions which the show would probably do if the show addressed them. For example, a canon space episode would probably have a pegasus flying into space, not a rocket.)

Nowhacking is a famous Pegasister/female Brony who is known as the voice actress as Vinyl in Epic Wub Times of Equestira (I believe) and voices Vinyl in the Titaunmun parody called "I Am Octavia."

 

 

Almost nearly 100% of the whole fandom sees Vinyl as Nowhacking and picture her voice as Vinyl's voice. So it's a popular idea to think of her for Vinyl. I personally dislike her voice for Vinyl a little bit but because how nearly everyone sees her as Vinyl, even if I see her voice for Vinyl from the popularity.

 

And I agree with you on headcannons on the background ponies. Since we hardly know much of them before the100th episode. Surprised how much headcannons WERE cannon in the episode now that I finally saw it.

Some of your headcannons for the Mane Six are interesting, I got to say!
