gaming Value of the Fallout series Cap.

I'm sure the math has been done somewhere but it doesn't seem anyone has the same answers. I'm no good with this sort of thing but I'm still curious so maybe a Fallout fan here can help me out.

There's quite a few variables that make it very hard to figure out, at least for me:

1. The US Dollar* is completely and utterly worthless in the Wasteland. The only reason there is any price on them is the fact that they are considered relics of the old world.

2. The bombs dropped in 2077. That's farther into even our future and we don't really know how much inflation has increased or decreased the value of the US Dollar. Or can we? Maybe it'll take some extra math.

3. The world in Fallout preserved the 1950-esque era all the way into 2077, but with advanced technology beyond our own. It's possible the value of currency is completely different in their world compared to ours.

4. I found one guy who calculated the Cap's value to be about $0.69 using a typical brick of gold but someone pointed out that one's Barter skill will mess with the value. What, then, should the standard level to work with be on the Barter skill?

*I'm using the US Dollar as a base since the Fallout games take place in the US.

So help a fellow wastelander out, MLPForums. Maybe we can figure out how much a single cap is worth. Maybe it changes from game to game and location to location.

This all started when I was trying to figure out how much a guy would owe the Arlington Library in Fallout 3 if his book was 201 years overdue based on the check-in computer at the front desk...
