So I saw in a post you were not a fan of the AR platform, why is that?

What other platforms have you tried or looked into?

I'd think it's pretty obvious which platform I lean to...

I do not like the armalite design.

It is very flawed, has a very poor bolt, and I use  one at work. AR 15's are infamous for jamming, though H&K did their best to fix that by implementing the gas piston as used in all the Kalashnikov line. Also, they have a very poor Gas tube design. The early model M4 rifles gas tubes that a lot of bushmasters are modelled after sling ring will pinch the gas tube which will cause failure or worse damage to the system. For all the Armalite fans out there saying but there's modularity and upgradeability, I have literally turned a Simonov SKS into an AK look alike. All it is furniture and rails. I trust the AKM for my immediate defense weapon. Sure, the AK isn't accurate past 300 meters, but who the hell is shooting past 300 meters? I'm not Chris Kyle. Most engagements seldom range beyond 300 meters. When they do, that's when your DMR's step in.

On the subject of DMR's I love the new upgraded EBR's in the M14 and m21 line. (The only difference between the two is one has a scope, the other doesn't.)

But the best shooting professional rifle I've ever put my hands on was the L96 Arctic Warfare chambered in .338 Lapua from Accuracy International.

Don't even ask me about guns I own, I buy guns like cars. I buy crappy ones from pawn shops and what not and fix them up. Same with cars. Except I have to sell the cars. I've got a Springfield 1903 that hasn't been shot since I've owned it.

The biggest thing niggling my mind right now is this.

I have a 1974 Pontiac Firebird Esprit in my garage that I accidently destroyed the vacuum lines and fuel lines on when I was really tired after work and forgot to prime the carburetor. Long story short, it backfired, and started a pretty serious fire. I actually had to get a fire extinguisher. I lost my air cleaner, my fan shroud, my vacuum line to the transmission as well as the primary wiring harness from the distro box to the alternator. I've been meaning to get her running again, but I haven't had the time nor the money to, as well as the motivation. I got back from school in Missouri back in May, and ever since then at work it's been pretty much full speed ahead with zero down time. Heck, the night I got back from Missouri I got recalled and had to come in at 1 AM.
