CoconutCola 48 July 10, 2015 Share July 10, 2015 Would any of you read "Generation mix-up" story? The plot is basically that by some means, (I'm not sure how yet, I'm still working out the plotholes in my story right now, hehe), Ponies from the past, (Older gens) are transported to the future, (G4). The rest of the story revolves around the past ponies trying to adjust to life in the future as well as trying to find a way home. I plan to redesign all the old gen ponies that appear in the story myself, just because if you look up say "Surprise MLP G4" on google you tend to just find either Lauren Faust's original designs for Surprise, or Pinkie Pie recolors, and I really don't think that's such a great thing, you know, to just have look-alikes running around. So I'll probably doodle the designs later tonight. I will also probably make new personalities for the older gen ponies. So what do you think? Would you be interested in a story like this? 1 No male pronouns, please. All other pronouns are fine.

Too basic, darling, almost like your standard 'X ends up in the Everfree Forest' crossovers. The idea is there but you need to find a more specific premise to it. An overarching story if you will, maybe a reality-warping interdimensional monster. Also, I highly, HIGHLY recommend watching My Little Pony 'n Friends before writing a word about it. Simply knowing Surprise and Firely was in it will not fly, darling.
SFyr 1,982 July 10, 2015 Share July 10, 2015 Before I say anything, I'm going to rehash my overall take away from any idea regarding games, stories, and enjoyable mediums of the like: the idea doesn't matter nearly as much as the execution. In this case, whether or not it's written in an enjoyable way will be far more important than the idea. The best idea will fall flat with poor execution, and some of the best works can sound pretty boring when summed up in a simplier form on paper. Anyways... Personally, it wouldn't be of interest to me. I don't really have any investment in the older generations, or the characters thereof--others do I'm sure, but personally I don't. Also, it is such a huge theme of fanfiction stories to have a character or group displaced and trying to adjust to Equestria sorry to say--usually it's humans, but unless you manage to make it feel new and engaging, it may too easily parallel or smack of the path other stories often take. Ideally, I would look at interesting angles, and ways to breath life, conflict, and newness into the story. Again, I don't think the overall idea is the main make or break factor, but how it reads or plays out.
