planning MLP Empires (Diplomacy, Trade & War)

This would be an RP in which each of you creates his own country (You can play a cannon nation... but lets be honest... no one will) and tries to build it up and make it a dominant player in the world stage (Through trade, diplomacy, war, culture, etc). Think of Civ V... or EUIV, Vicky 2, that would be the basis. So, you make a nation and control every aspect of it; civilian life, the millitary, politics, development, technology... and interact with others. There will be events you cant control like diseases rebellions (caused by certain actions you take) which would be triggered by the GM (Thats me, muhaha :umad: ). You will have to find ways to deal with these, by your self or the aid of others. 

 

Anyway, this would be a modified version of MLP Nations, which kinda had a few probs in the way that the rules didnt impose restrictions on nations and some people went OP when the GM changed... which wasnt fun at all. Anyway, with what i gathered from there I hope this will go A LOT better (if it catches on that is)

 

So, firstly, here is the map where everything would play out

The awful colouring is just there to give an idea of the climate around. 

 

The main rules on the map would be that some regions won't have magic and that countries in a certain region the countries should have similar races/culture. In terms of culture there is going to be a 'Europe', 'Africa and an 'Asia', etc so that similar nations are together. Species arent that important but the main idea is to not have a pony nation which trades grain in the middle of warmongering Dragon-land.  :muffins:

BUt thats to worry about later, all the arranging would be done after the RP is... you know... working  :P

 

 

The main thing that is to be decided first is the 'age' its gonna take place. These are my ideas... (the dates are just for reference);

 

 

Classical (3000BC-500BC)

 

Small Tribes trying to build up a civiliization

or

Have a giant EMpire (Rome placeholder) being invaded

 

 

Dark Ages (800-1000AD)

 

Ideas of culture and science have been forgotten as warlords now fight for power (west) while in the east might empires are formed. Religious wars fill the map.

 

 

HIgh (1000-1300)

 

The ideas of the old return, certain regions will ban magic while purely religious connflicts come to a stop

 

 

Exploration (1300-1600)

 

(The time has come for the small nations of the west to expand, looking for unclaimed land to keep up with the east.

 

 

Empires (1700-1900)

 

Global empires clash while some wish to bring 'civilization' to the world

 

 

WWs (1900-1950)

 

Must I say anything here =p

 

 

 

 

Also, I was thinking, if this goes good, once a certain time period gets boring, we can timeskip to the next era... so it would be 'civilizations through time'/

Well a good place to start is, how much cannon will be involved? Forming the game around nations like Equestria, the Crystal Empire, the Griffon Kingdom, Zebrica, the badlands, etc would shape how player controlled empires would evolve.

Well a good place to start is, how much cannon will be involved? Forming the game around nations like Equestria, the Crystal Empire, the Griffon Kingdom, Zebrica, the badlands, etc would shape how player controlled empires would evolve. 

I am really thinking about going for the 1300-1500

 

That would be early gunpowder weapons. I was thinking of separating the world in 3 bits. Non-magical nations (Only nations to have access to gunpowder), Magic nations (powerful magic but primitive tech) and some sort of balanced nations.

 

for ex (just an example)

 

Magical nations wont have access to iron weapons (equestrian royal guards seem to be wearing bronze) but powerful magic (No celestia type stuff tho). Not very militaristic

Balanced nations iron tools and weapons and casual magic

'Scientific' nations would be all about the war and expansion, powerful weapons, professional armies but no magic whatsoever.

1300s-1500s in our era? Or 1300s-1500s as in, three to five hundred years after the show?

Ours... but tech would progress as time goes on, slowly bringing non-magical nations to a more... equal lv to the others.

So I take it this won't be very adherent to cannon. Will we be ignoring events like Discords reign and the fall of the Crystal empire?

A few ways to go about this would be either in the future, following the collapse and dissolution of Equestria, or an alternate reality, where the 3 pony tribes never united and Equestria was never formed.
