cider float 2,537 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 I'm just curious. I wonder if there was an at least meager fandom of previous generations of MLP before G4.
Freegator 62 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 Yeah, sure why not. If it exists, there is a fandom for it.. not a fandom I would want to be a part of.
mars 4,862 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 Yes, there were plenty of fans before bronies. They collect(ed) the toys, watched the shows/specials. We may be the loudest MLP fandom, but we certainly weren't the first.
Envy 6,144 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 Very much so. One has existed for many years, and very much still does, separate to the Brony fandom. It's composed mainly of adult collector of the toys, but many of them enjoy the animations for the series, too. Everything needs more woodwind! cider float 2,537 August 13, 2015 Author Share August 13, 2015 I kind of expect these OG fans to celebrate on G4's way of structuring the strength of the show or perhaps any criticisms of it. If any of my past enjoyed franchises got such a strong revival I would flip my sheet.
GuyNamedEarl 1,332 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 Definitely not as big as the Internet wasn't around to give it such a boost like G4 Creator of MLP Ruined Vines and Recorder Sh*t Equestria's Biggest Hip-Hop Nerd Everyday is Leg Day! zombienixon 330 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 Yes, of course there was. MLP fans have had an online presence since the early 90s. MLP was hugely popular when it came out, why wouldn't there be people who were still fans of it as they got older?
Mesme Rize 15,683 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 Yes there was. Infact, i heard a story about one of these fans. He hates the brony fandom, because he collected the figures for years and finally MLP gets the spotlight and it's shifted towards another group that he is not interested in. I don't remember the article anymore though. My OC Mesme Rize: >https://mlpforums.com/page/roleplay-characters/_/mesme-rize-r8777 Thank you Randimaxis for this Wonderful Avatar. Please, don't be afraid to talk to me. I am not as unapproachable, as you might think.
Moony the Cat 3,702 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 Just look on the Internet, because their are many Forums whos main theme is the older shows. Also, their all a lot of collectors of the old toys and fans of the old shows. My little Pony was always a successful brand :grin2: And ive talked to some of the older fans and of course, their are also fans of the new show. But some of them just prefer it, to be on their collector forums..i guess, because this forum here...as far as ive seen has not really topics for the older shows..or generations. At least not as big as on the other forums. Sig made by Kyoshi
Sobana 100 August 13, 2015 Share August 13, 2015 Yes, of course there is a fandom for older generations. It is not as big as the brony fandom but it did manage a few conventions of their own before G4 came out. From what I understand the two fandoms stay seperated for the most part. Most bronies don't like the previous generations while the older fans feel kinda hurt about being left out instead of the bronies embracing the entire franchise. Whatever your option is on the matter Fizzy is still best pony.
