Who gets to keep Shining Armor?

I just realized a big dilemma and what could make for a good episode. Where does Shining Armor reside in? He is Cadence's husband so he has to take up political and husband matters at the Crystal Empire but at the same time he's the Captain of the Royal Guards of Canterlot. What happens if Canterlot and the Crystal Empire go to war? So who keeps Shining Armor Celestia or Cadence?

 

Or is he still seeing Chrysalis???

Crystal Empire. Dude's their prince now, isn't he? And even without that information, I'd assume he'd side with his wife. The last time we saw him in Canterlot was "Twilight's Kingdom," and that's only because Cadence was hanging out there.

I'm pretty sure he abdicated his position as the head of the Royal guard in order to take over as the prince of the Crystal empire. They probably have a new captain now.

He maintains both positions, though his role as captain of the royal guard is probably now more of a figurehead. During the time of monarchs, it was not unusual for neighboring countries to arrange marriages in order to form political alliances. because Prince Shining Armour has strong ties to canterlot, it is unlikely that the crystal empire would go to war with the rest of equestria (and vice versa). While it is not a fool-proof method, but it is a historical method.

Actually that would be a good idea, although I have a feeling that hasbro would turn it down.
