"I uh..well, I don't exactly know why" she said with the red starting on her face again "I was thinking about things and it just appeared on my face, its not like I love someone or have a crush" she knew perfectly well why it was happening but really didn't want to say that to him because he might get the wrong idea, (what? Of you liking him a little more than you should? Plus I thought you never blushed at him before so why now? Because he is...I don't even exactly know my self) She thought as she hid her face from him because she knew that the red was growing brighter as she thought of that "just drop the subject"

"you're doing it again..." He said, pointing at her cheeks which were getting redder. 'I didn't even mention love or crushes...' He thought. He looked at her and said "Alright, I'll drop it" He then looked forward. He felt the cold hit him as the Autumn wind came back.

The cold felt worst as now she was focusing on it from dropping the discussion. I'm sure this crush will go away...I mean it happened the same way with that jerk back there were I liked him and talked about stuff till I lost interest, you know it feels different though. her doubting thoughts told her as she walked   "you know that guy I talked to back there? His name is Reginald...can I rant about why I slightly hate him?"

"Go ahead, but don't expect me to be one hundred percent listening" He said as he walked, looking at the forest to his left, thinking. 'I wonder how that Reginald guy found us... We should probably keep it low, I would rather keep Elizabeth's family off my back' He thought.

"so he is not the worst I guess, he listens to me and excepts what I'm doing but he doesn't go as far as support or even go with some of my own ideas...traveling was one he just could not get behind, as well as even just going into the small town next to the rich district because he thought that the people down there were poor heathens that should learn to move up in the world" she fumed a bit "if you were wondering why he found us then I have a theory that he thought I traveled because I talked about it quite a bit trying to convince him of the sights and how great it would be for my training" I wonder if he changed any, that's a pleasant thought she thought as she kept walking

He asked "but the thought that your family knows where we are is a little unsettling, maybe after a few name and look changes you will go off the grid like me." He said. He wants to disappear and Eliza's family has made it hard the past few months.

"You were thinking that? I guess it was just a good guess then as I was just saying that you might be thinking about it" she explained as she didn't want to be mistook as a mind reader. She felt a little sad that she had to do all the name and look changes, it just wasn't her and she wanted to still keep in touch with her family as they are her family "you don't know how hard it is for me to except going off the grid...I mean I love my family and you don't even have one so you cant understand the feeling"

"If you don't you will blow my cover... people will question why the same woman is seen with a different man every few weeks. Then they may get a closer look and notice 'Hey that guy kinda looks like the last guy... and the last guy... and the last guy...'. It isn't hard to put two and two together and realize 'Wait?! they are the same people'. Then I would really have to go 100% off the grid and no one, not even you, would see me again. Do you understand?" He said, walking faster to catch up to her and looking at her in the eye.

"I know that, I'm not stupid...I'm just saying its going to be hard to do that as I am a normally helpful person and you'll want to pull that away so you can even travel with me as if I do something that isn't neutral to us, we have to change identities" she sighed as a thought went in her head that she had earlier "I wish that, that whole people will care thing happened if they did put two and two together" that got her to think about earlier more, mostly about how she didn't ask a important question "ok I'm tired of being in the dark, tell me why your running away like this because your traveling for a reason and I want to know what it is" she walked backwards as she looked him in the eye "I think I can tell if your lying"

He stopped and turned his head so that he was only looking at her with one eye "If I don't tell you, what are you gonna do? Leave? How do you know you will make it back to your home town? You don't know the roads like I do, you will probably get lost, maybe killed by a wild animal. Maybe you will tell the police of everything I have done in the past months we have traveled? I will be long gone before they even started looking for me..." He said before starting to walk again "And besides... It is safer for you to not know, I don't want to get you tangled in the same web I have gotten myself into. What is the point of bringing you down with me?" He added

"Its not that I want you to bring me down, I want to bring us both up and be able to make are dreams come true, that's why I came out here in the first place...to help you and me" she sighed as she looked away "I wouldn't run or anything, just be disappointed that you don't think you could trust me as much as I trust you...I mean I trusted you with my life before but I know nothing about you" she started walking again "it's fine, we should just worry about getting to a rest stop or something"

"Fine, you don't have to answer" she walked ahead a bit "hope that doesn't bite us in the ass later" she said under her breath as an image of her teachers came to mind as whenever she cursed they would make her into a human scratching post. Thank god I don't have to ever see them again she thought with a smirk

(2 hours later)

 

Neo saw the light of a building, by the sign it looked like an inn. He looked at his pocket watch, 7:30 PM. "The sun will be setting soon, might as well get a room here." He said looking at the inn. It looked small from the outside and looked old. "Better than nothing"

"it truly is" she walked to the inn seeing just how old it was as she could obviously see worn down wood, a few cracks and even some lantern models lighting it up that weren't even being made anymore. It didn't help that it looked small, almost like a house turned into a inn "I hope that we can get some sleep...well me at least as I have a little fear of bugs" she got to the front steps

"Probably doesn't get much work because this road isn't traveled that much." He said as he entered the inn. It was mostly empty with a sleeping human behind a counter. In the middle of the room was a fire pit surrounded by benches. There appeared to be 4 rooms coming off of the lobby and an upstairs. "Looks nicer on the inside..." He said. He looked at the sleeping man.

"It does look better on the inside, maybe its just aesthetic for the building to look like that on the outside" she said looking around at the inn. She walked to the human behind the counter "hello? We are traveling and need a room so we don't get caught out at night" she said in a nice tone hoping it would wake him up

The man jump to wake, almost falling off of the stool he was sitting on "Huh?! oh uh, sorry what was that?" He asked.

 

Neo walked up next to Eliza and said "We would like a room, two beds would be preferable."

 

The man looked at Neo "Sorry... we only have one bed in each room, but we have some king sized beds upstairs."

"So...we have to share a bed?" she looked at Neo, she was wanting it to happen for some reason "that is if you want to be in two rooms, which would be fine, its not like we have to be in the same room" her sensible part of mind said to Neo. "Also what do you have for food around here? If there is any" she looked at the man behind the counter

He looked at Eliza for a moment and thought about it. He looked at the man and said "We will take two rooms..."

 

The man nodded and grabbed two room keys "That will be 20 G." He said.

 

Neo pulled out 20 G and handed it to the man.

 

The man gave Neo one key and gave the second one to Eliza. Neo's was room 17 and Eliza's was room 18. The man looked at Eliza and said "My sister prepares meals for the guests, she is making dinner right now."

Eliza was a little disappointed at getting two rooms but shrugged it off as there was nothing she could do. "So this is like a family place? That's really neat because where I come from, family working in a business, less then a manager of some sort, was rare" she smiled "I bet your sister is a wonderful cook but I wast to see my room" she walked to her room from nearby labled doors

After about 2 minutes, Neo went to his room and entered it. It was well furnished and clean. He sat down on the bed and began taking off his boots. He moved to take off his jacket but realized, he wasn't wearing it. He remembered that he had lent it to Eliza. He stood up and set his knife on the desk next to the bed.

Dark stretched a bit after getting in her room and took off the jacket as it was no longer cold. It felt weird wearing that. She thought then proceed to drop her purse on the bed. That test was so hard...uh I can still smell the smelling salts. She scrunched nose trying to get it out but failed then looked at the jacket. He wouldn't mind me looking in it, would he? Wonder if there is even anything in it. she carefully looked throw the jacket

In one of the jacket's pockets was an unopened letter, sealed with a red wax seal. On the seal was the shape of a spider. On the back was written 'to: James Hurron of Baron's Hold from: Leonard Dioli of Vencios'. Leonard (Leo) Dioli was Neo's old fake name.

 

Neo was going to take a shower but as he was unbuttoning his top three buttons, he remembered that he had left something in his jacket. He sighed in aggravation and left his room. He knocked on Eliza's door and said "Hey, can I have my jacket back?"

She was startled by the knock but wanted to know what was inside the letter so bad. She fought the urge as it might be crucial for him "uh, coming right there!" she hid the letter in the jacket again and opened the door "here you go...why do you need it back so bad? Is something in it?" She asked hoping to get rid of the feeling of interest she had
