Ahab takes a sigh of relief, "Your little flower friend is a real nuisance. Always spouting and rambling." He slightly complains. He lets out another heft sigh.

"That really took a lot of magic to keep you warm.." He added.

 

"I don't mean to sound so negative, but you picked a wrong time to come out of the underground. With the way things are going you are not gonna have a pleasant time." She says.

 

"What is she talking about?" Ahab asks.

"I don't know" he says whispering in his hand again. "how...how did you know I came out of the underground? And why do you say I won't have a pleasant time from the ways things are going?" Asriel was slightly frightened now from what was said. Did...did something happen between humans and monsters? Have some been killed by the other? Asriel thought thinking of the worst, like he did when Frisk came down.

"Well, I just assumed, You aren't the first one I awhile to come out. Every rare chance I see another monster or two decide to leave. Everyone of them seeming intent to keep away from Ebott." She says.

Her expression shifts to concern.

"I would say the usual but that wouldn't explain much." She says.

She takes a seat near the table.

 

"It's more so been recent. There's been a coup or something like that. I'm not exactly up to date with my news. There's this group or gang I don't know-" Rita is struggling to recall her information.

 

"All I know is that these men, they've 'banded' to bring justice against all monsters. But you shouldn't worry yourself dear. That's more a city problem. I'm sure it'll just blow over." She say adding a hint of confidence.

 

"This could be Ismael's work... but no way he could've acted so quick... " Ahab thought out loud.

 

"Would you like more... Oh pardon me I didn't get your name?" Rita asked.

"What a nice name." She replies, picking up the mug she returns to the kettle and refilling the drinking utensil.

 

 

"When the storm dies down tomorrow we can go into town if you'd like? Do your parents know that you're out here?" Rita asked out of curiosity.

 

Ahab thought to himself silently, a revolution? Had Ismael completed his goal? But how much time passed? He had to know.

"I need you to ask her how long it's been since the barrier fell." He said to Asriel.

Rita let out a soft saddened groan, "You poor thing." She says in pity expressing a sad look. But she returns her happy tone.

"Oh Lord.. umm... I think it was... last June? It's been definitely a year but trying to remember the exact date... oh never mind." She answers gesturing her hands forward ignoring her thoughts.

 

Ahab remained silent for a few moments.

 

"I hope that answered your question. And didn't scare you . " She scratches her head a bit.

A whole year? Flowey real was pissed off wasn't he? I mean from something that happened a year ago, he was still angry...glad I'm not around him anymore. Asriel thought sipping his coco "I just wanted to know how long it was I was in there alone" he says knowing he is not telling the full truth

"I'll make sure he doesn't bother you again." Ahab said, seeming to hear Asriel's thought.

 

"For a whole year? Surely child?" Rita spoke in disbelief.

 

 

For the next several moments it was just simple silence: the crackling of the burning wood, the sweet cocoa and the howling wind of the storm. Peaceful yet reaching uncomfortable silence. Rita seemed content though having a seat in her wooden chair rocking back and forth.

 

"We can take this moment if you want to ask an questions to me Asriel." Ahab spoke with open. statement.

"Calm down Asriel. As I said, I'm lending you my soul temporarily. When we bring Ismael to justice I promise you I'll do anything I can to bring you back with a new soul." He says, continuing on-

 

"And to answer your question: Yes. As a member of the ..." He hesitated suddenly,

"I suppose it won't hurt.. A member of the Mages Preservation Guild I'm naturally taught in magical arts. Of course the idea was never to use it. But here we are." He said.

 

"And about this Frisk? You maybe embedded with my soul but I have no collection of your memories. Is she someone I should know about?" He asked?

"Ah! Now I think I now. I apologize I don't pay much attention to politics. But I do think I've heard of someone like that. A self proclaimed ambassador to the monsters? No one seemed to take it seriously at first. Yet, I haven't heard anything about her awareness." He says.

 

"The last I heard before becoming rather dormant there was plans at assimilation reforms? But from what Miss Rita mentioned things have went sour." He says.

I guess monsters can't catch a break can they? I guess some people think that since they are weaker than humans then they are below them...I was scared at one point when Frisk first came down, even he could have destroyed all monsters. Asriel sighs "Do you think...the monsters will survive Rita? Or will they just be thrown down the hole again?"

"I certainly hope so. So far all the monsters have been wonderfully friendly. It's so sad that people always look for new things to put their hate on. I mean years ago was the end of another cruel skirmish between two countries... oh what where they called?... " She pondered her thoughts.

 

"Oh well... now we go about. debating policies and steps for monsters and all nonsense. It's a weird circle." She says.

 

Looking at the clock Rita lets out a bit of a surprised look.

 

"It's getting rather late darling. Oh my listen to me." She giggled a bit.

"The mother in me screaming at you for bedtime." She laughs a bit.

 

"If I do remember the closest town was Wilmington, small little town. Mostly small business and a quiet neighborhood." Ahab says.

"Oh I was. I'd like to say a lot of women experience motherhood. " Standing up she approaches to the fireplace taking a small photo and returning to Asriel.

 

The photo shows two young boys grinning ear to ear happily. The tallest one having short black hair and brown eyes and adorned in shorts and lacking a shirt. The other being shorter wears a large hoodie. His features being a bushy ginger hair with hazel eyes, in his grin he misses two of his teeth.

 

"The one with the black hair is my boy. Malek." She says.

 

Ahab gives an intrigued mumble, "Malek interesting name: One of sovereignty. In turn it can also mean supreme authority."

 

"But he's all grown now. I do miss him. It's been a year since I've seen him. He must be rather busy." Rita said adding wanton assurance. She then points to the boy next to him.

"Now him, Clocksin... Yes that's quite a strange name. " She says,

"He still sticks around. I almost see him weekly. Always visiting and bringing gifts. He turned into a nice young man despite a harsh upbringing." She says.

 

"I feel like I've heard that name before..." Ahab whispers just audible enough to be heard.

"Clocksin was the name of a rather influential astronomer in the Mage Guild, this was before modern times. Sometime close after the end of the Human-Monster War. Proposing constant thesis and theories about planetary activity and it's influences on human magic and such." Ahab answered.

 

Rita returned the photo to the fireplace. She takes place back into her seat letting out a tired sigh.

"I think I'm gonna nap for a bit Asray. " She says wrapping the blanket drapped on the chair now upon her.

 

"You feel tired Asriel.. You should get some sleep." Ahab suggested.

A familiar voice said as Asriel was in pitch blackness "I found your little friend a while ago, but there soul is gone from here now" A human body with a green and yellow striped shirt lands on the ground, lifeless "But you already know how has your friends soul in them don't you?" A bright yellow flower appears in front of Asriel "I can't believe you were saved by this other human, Ahab is it? Well I hope have a fun time trying to help Chara, because we both know that's all you want" The flower gets a wicked grin as he says it "N-no I want to help others...I don't think they can even be saved, the monsters sound like they need more help anyway" "Alright keep telling yourself that, I'll just leave you with this husk till dawn" The flower disappears into the ground and Asriel is indeed stuck in that room till he wakes up.

Ahab looked upon him from the dark corners, with Flowey now gone he approaches.

 

"He can't hurt if youre wondering. " He says. Stepping into view stands a tall young man. Slight facial hair growing around his lips and upon his chin. His hair neatly buzzcut yet his brown hair color is noticeable. His eyes have a vibrant green appearance and a protruding nose. His garments are a pocketed red jacket with a blue shoulder drap mantle upon his shoulder. Simple trousers and boots adorn his lower portion. Upon his arm was signature mage gauntlet.

 

"I never took the opportunity to actually meet you in person. " He sits down before the small Boss monster.

"Its okay. Don't stress yourself about the past." He says. Holding open his hand suddenly a book appears, a rather old thin journal like pad. He takes a quick glance into the pages.

 

"Definitely, it's been over a year." In a dramatic burst of flame it disappears. Asriel can almost feel his anger emerging.But holding back a distasting grunt he sighs.

 

"I shouldn't have let my guard dow-" He stops and looks at Asriel.

"I suppose I should apologize. I shouldn't have just demanded you to fight. I was a bit anxious to leave." He says in apology.
