Is there really going to be an orchestral score for the movie?

Because if there is, that's awesome! One of the reasons animated films like Up and HTTYD are so memorable is surprisingly because of the background music. Example, the booming score John Powell composed made the flying scene in HTTYD feel so much more grand.

 

On a second note, I'm glad they're making this a theatrical movie that's about My Little Pony rather than an extended episode (PPG movie).

I hope, even with such a grand orchestra, they keep to the same motif's of the show rather than branching out to fit the movie specifically.

 

One of the main strength's of the HTTYD soundtrack is that John Powell is ingenious with his use of motif's and certain instruments. When asked why the HTTYD 2 soundtrack was so similar to the first, he explained that the soundtrack had as much character as Hiccup and it would develop along with him. By keeping so many things similar, but adding more depth, it made the soundtrack truly memorable and distinct.

 

I hope in the MLP movie, we see something similar

It also might really kickstart Ingram's career as a composer. He might do other movies after MLP is done.
