Coolwhip rolled his eyes " it got me a number and its better then nothing the number if im going to gusse leads to the drummer of the band you do have something there with the band. Something tells me that the drummer is going to cancel the show because the two are brothers and any second now they will get ahold of him soon" said coolwhip walking towards a phone booth  

 

"some information you need to dig a different way then others" he said pressing in the number to the phone "yes doc I think I have something the patents brother is a drummer right" there was a pause coolwhip hoofed the air trimphently

 

"no that's not nessisary have the day" he said cheerfully hanging up the phone

 

"you were right on the show, you like jazz music?" asked coolwhip

"what about the show, your just doing your own thing and I'm just well here looking shinny, why am I even here anyway? But yes I like jazz well I like everything so I have problems but I still don't know why I'm tagging along you seem to be getting places without any of my help."

"you are being helpful I wasn't thinking about the band bit till you brought it up and we have a new window to explore vs the other one I thought up....which it wouldn't fit so stop kicking yourself now crystal" he said still chipper but scarlet knew he was less loosed then he appeared. "so enough about me, you said you were a musician I'm going to guss..." he paused for a bit

 

"nothing in the string family right?" he asked cocking his head to the side

"ha you are changing subjects fine! I can play the violin, guitar, saxophone and drums and the turntables and I can sing and I work for the government so yay me." Crystal was a bit obvious in her annoyance in her manner and voice. She looked away from him back to the bar.

As smart as coolwhip was he always sucked at having friends it was now that he herd the tone did he realize his mistake. He scratched his mane nervously more trying to lighten the mood he tried "turn tables makes sense with the headphones always wondered how they'v worked" not seeing her react he decided to cut through the ice

 

 "ok, ok im sorry. I honestly don't know where to take this case so far and dragging you around like this I could see why I could use a good slap or two" he said the more he thought about it the more he relized how much his aged showed. He bowed his head waiting for the blow.

Crystal looked back at him, "you...no I'm not going to hit you, you just need to treat me like a pony and not a tool or a clue just well be polite agree with things I say even if they are wrong you just need to be more well nice work and can interesting for you but it's not really for me I mean this is not a job for me I'll help you just...just oh I don't know Coolwhip you have to see ponies for ponies not as clues or tools or well things of that nature."

"I do see you as a pony just...never really had time for friends...." coolwhip said scratching his mane more from being embarrassed  then anything else. He breathed out remembering something, "i think I saw a turn table at the bar not being used, think you can teach me how to play one or if all else show me some of your songs?" coolwhip asked

"well I suppose so, I can show you one of my tunes then you can have a go." They both walked back in, Crystal left him at the door and talked to the bartender again then walked to the turntables and motioned him over, "this is one of my newest pieces." (she is singing as well the whole shabang)

As the song was sung with Crystel's singing by the end of the whole thing what started out as a bar with a few ponys soon turned into a very early and successful rush hour for the bar with cheers at the end and much clapping some ponys asking for more or an encore which the bartender pony yelled over the crowd about happy hour which was met with more cheers from the pony's. coolwhip was very impressed by the whole thing and helped Scarlet find a table to sit at through the crowd.

 

"i didn't realize you had a big fan base here in town" said coolwhip

"Well I have my talents. There is a reason I have a music note on my flank you know." She sat and watched the ponies around having some fun, then looked back to him. "can you do anything along those lines, sing, play, dance even? Or you just a detective?"

(woops my bad) coolwhip smiled "music was never my forte but give me a chees board and I bet I could give twilight a run for her bits. Yet I don't see her as a chess player unless she read a book on it" said coolwhip taking a sip of the cider he ordered.

 

"was that all taught or did you self teach youself on that?" the blue pony asked  (IRL I suck at chess though)

(I can't sing well actually I can, can't play music though)

 

The electronic stuff I taught myself, the more classical instruments, I was taught as a young mare, before the Empire fell. I only learned of techno and such when I left the Empire to travel a few years ago, I can play some more if you want." (I have a lot of good songs)

coolwhip looked around "would love too, but I think you do another sing we might need a bigger bar" he said noticing another wave of pony's show up some with cameras'. That caught coolwhips attention "odd question iv never seen poperponies(azies) should we run or just get...moving?" he cooked his head when the flashes started here and there. Along with some pony's moving over others as well to find the Crystel pony.

"I get them, sometimes now and then I mean I make waves once in a while I'm not really popular but it happens, we can leave if you want." Crystal looked towards the photo pony, then back to Coolwhip. "if you don't want the attation well it's fine we can duck out before they find me."

"I get enough attentions when I go get scarf shopping in ponyvill, but ive herd enough story's around them" he said ducking a random flash nearly getting him a headache with the flash  

 

"something about solving big case's rarely drives them to seek me tho which I'm glad for it honestly" coolwhip said smiling taking another sip of his drink

 

"brings more busness, just wanted to check with you is all" he said looking more relaxed

"I don't really care, either way so anything you like me to play? I mean one of my more classical styles." Crystal shock her head, "I don't have any of my other instruments, so just techno you want me to sing again or not I guess would be an option well the option so yeah."

coolwhip smiled getting an idea, "how about something you haven't done before or been able do for a while till now every artist always has that one idea they've been thinking or working on" he said then looked around "might give you more business as well with these camra's here" he asked

"um ok let me think about." Crystal got up from her seat and returned back to the turn tables and brought up a hoof and started thinking of a beat.

This style was a little more unusual compared to what she normally would play but something still in her style range.

The aplasue was bigger then the last one yet some of her long time fans did notice the change in tune and style with most of them scratching there heads in wondermeant then anything else. Once she got done the press pony's, and fans seemed to swarm the crystal pony. Coolwhip decided enough was enough for his friend as he could tell they were blocking her way towards moving off the stage, after moving his way through he helped Crystel off the stage.

 

This backfired in the way he was thinking as the camera's started to switch between the two pony's. coolwhip shrugged and did what he could to give his friend some breathing space, while answering questions here and their about case's and hat he knew of music.

They manged to get back to their seats, and after a flurry of questions and after about what seemed like an age but it reality about ten minuets the crowd let dispersed from around them again. "well that went well then I suppose, but it seems some of my fans did not like that did not know I had that many here. Did not  know I was that popular actually."

"that makes two of us, I like the new style tho but if it hurts your business ill stop making requests I'll feel like a punk if that hurts your song sales. I keep forgetting how persistent some reporters are vs others. I'm just glad they didn't bring up the rusted hoofs case" coolwhip said taking a swig of his cider.

 

"pro tip never go to court with a up and coming tabloids reporter in the crowd, it just adds fuel to the fire" he said looking at his drink. Seeing the raised eyebrow from Crystel he said "I had to share my notes on a case of a poor changeling that lost her disguise in the wrong part of town. I feel bad for them even after the wedding" the blue pony said

"I don't make any money from my songs there all free on the web, I just make some money from playing live, and when the government gives me a salary for my experiment I'm doing for them. Besides my fans came to me because I'm a little different to the rest of the other artists out there."

coolwhip smiled "different is good really, being the same like eveypony else is boring. not much fun if you think about it, day after day doing the same thing not being noticed always blending in....and sometimes I envey them. Simple, yet boring you know" he said gazing around at the bars customers doing a bit of reading on some here and there. suddenly a game crossed his mind wondering if Crystel would like to play.

 

"heres an idea, have you played pony reading before?" he asked Crystel

"um no." She said with a look of slight confusion, "is it like where you tried to read me except well for random ponies we look at your going to win this game I can see that much." She lent forward, "it's not one of those games though is it?" She started looking around them to see who he'd pick.

As crystal leand forward by coolwhip his red blush almost made him purple looking (red and blue make purple right?) he shook his head 'easy coolwhip' he thought to himself "Its kind of like that but with a twist" he said smilling looking at the mare then caught him self and began looking around

 

"their behavior has to match the descriptcion for example" he gazed around finding a pony, it was one of the annoying reporters from before hoof "lets try him for starters, we know he's a reporter for the tabloids and we know he was called last second from how much he is downing that ale. probably his 2nd, but underneath he's what kind of worker you think?" asked coolwhip
