Mackenzie noted the Scythe around her waist. She also remembered the last attack she had summoned. Icy fire spilled out of the dragon's head at the other end of the field. Her eyes widened as she cried out.

"Duck!"

As blue fire hurtled towards the pair from behind Mary, she grabbed hold onto Mary and pulled her down into the ground, dropping her knife as she did. The chilling blast passed overhead, leaving some frost on the pair.

As the attack finished and the dragon's head dissipated, Mackenzie got up, looking at the trail of ice on the grass. 'That would have killed us both' she shakily thought, still breathing heavily.

She felt a sharp pain from her waist. She put her hand to hit and pulled it away to see blood. 'Shit' she mumbled. Due to the position of the scythe, she had cut the side of her waist. She clutched her wound as she hobbled towards Mary.

"Fine. You win." She whispered between breaths. "What do you want to know?"

@@Gearhart, @,

Bobby saw this as an opportune moment to step in.

"Alright ladies, fight's over," he said, walking up to the two, although this was more for the sake of the spectators. Bobby then grabbed Mary's arm, raised it up, and announced for all the spectators, "Winner- Mary!"

Bobby then turned to Mackenzie and said, "Don't shoot the messenger."

"I could've dodged it..." She looked down the see Mackenzie bleeding. "Hang on, let's get you to the hospital, they should have one at the school" She held up Mackenzie and started to walk her to a school. She saw that Bobby and Ray were standing there, "Hey, one of you two want to help out?"

@@Gearhart, @,

Bobby went and helped prop up Mackenzie, and said, "We'll get you patched up in no time."

Bobby then asked Mary, "Got any injuries yourself?"

He didn't want to admit it, but Bobby also wanted to know why Mackenzie was so hostile towards him. He figured he might get an idea on how to brighten her up.

Mackenzie pulled away from Mary. "I'm fine." She snarled. "The last thing I need is for the whole school to know that I lost to you.".

She began limping away. "We can talk in the courtyard. I'm sure you're eager to collect your prize." She whispered.

Indeed, her pride felt the sting. She didn't expect the fight to end so quickly.

Her knife lay on the grass where she fell, next to the trail of ice.

"N-No, I'm fine, we should worry about her right now anyway." She took a little bruising from the fall but nothing like what happened to Mackenzie. "Look, I'm sorry that I cut you, just try and get through it ok." She sort of tensed up, and waited for the worst to come.

@,

"First things first, we need to get that cut looked at. We don't want it to get infected. I can probably even fix it right now," said Bobby. He then leaned in slightly so only Mackenzie could hear him and said, "Look, I know what it feels like to lose a fight. You can't let a little stung pride get in the way of doing the smart thing."

Mackenzie's eye twitched. Forcing herself to speak calmly, she turned to Bobby and Mary. "Please, if you can heal me on the spot, go on ahead." She offered.

On the inside however.

'Why the hell did you want to bring me to the hospital when you could have just healed me right here?!' She screamed internally.

@,

Bobby used some quick light magic, and Mackenzie's wound sealed up in an instant, looking as though nothing had ever happened to her, leaving only some blood on her shirt.

"Okay, you two play nice now," he said.

Bobby then noticed a glint of metal on the grass out of the corner of his eye.

Mackenzie nodded her head in thanks. "Thanks for the heal" she mumbled, heading back to the school. The pain had mostly faded. She turned to Mary. "Meet me at the courtyard. We for a reason, remember?"

She sighed, heading towards the school. Something felt missing for some reason

As Mackenzie walked off, Bobby turned to look at what he had seen in the grass. It was Mackenzie's knife. He bent down to pick it up, but before he could give it back, she had already walked off.

'Girls walking away from me is turning into a habit,' Bobby thought to himself.

He decided to head to the courtyard to give it back.

"Right" Mary headed off to the courtyard, as she was doing so, she had an interesting idea "Icy fire? Might put some study into it, needs a cooler name though, Frostfire?" She trailed this thought for so long she nearly missed the courtyard and went into the school, if she hadn't kicked a rock and made it scrape along the sidewalk.

Mackenzie's was jolted at the sound of scraping rock. She sat at the same spot as before, sitting idly. The adrenaline from the battle had left her veins but she still sat restless for one reason or the other.

'She's here.' She muttered.'I hope I don't miss class for this. How long is lunch here anyway?'

"I'm surprised really," Mary says to Mackenzie, "Most summoners don't use half-baked creatures like yourself." Mary grinned, "You made your own fighting style, I now see why you were chosen as one of the Trinity Four." Mary sat down next to her and asked what she came for, "So what's troubling you?"

Mackenzie eyed Mary with a deadpan look. "I don't like people and I don't like attention. Both of which your presence here and my title is giving me right now. Really, it's a simple answer." She said, groaning. "I've tried again and again to shake you all off. Make myself unappealing. Shoo you away. Fade in the background. You're all just the type to never give up, eh?"

Bobby followed the two to the courtyard, but decided to stand near the entrance and stay out of sight for now, and just listen. He felt a little guilty for doing so and would much rather upright return Mackenzie's knife, but he was too curious about her.

Bobby couldn't help but feel sick holding the knife. Its very essence seemed violent, and it felt like a bad influence.

" Mackenzie," Mary says taking on a deep tone, "Being resent less, being aggressive toward my goal, that's what makes a good warrior. Being just another face in the crowd won't make you stand out." Mary grabs Mackenzie's shoulder, "If you wanted to stay back and not be noticed, you wouldn't become the legendary summoner you are inside"

Ray stood in the background as always. He was slightly annoyed that the girl he was rooting for, lost. Seeing that they all went to the courtyard, Ray followed suit. But instead of going outside, he went over to Bobby first "A piece of advice mate. This girl despises everyone, so i will suggest leaving her be" With those words he went outside. He sat down on a bench, cast an illusion on the area he was in to make it look like pure air, and observed the conversation

Mackenzie leered at Mary. "I don't feel the need to be recognised by others for me to consider myself strong" she hissed. "Either way, my goals are my business, and just because I carry out my life different from how you do doesn't mean that my way is wrong."

Mary held up her badge, "I never expected to get this title either Mackenzie." She put it back down. "But now, I can't be selfish anymore, and simply train. This badge means that the school relies on me to protect it. I now have to train for the school, and we need you to do the same, you can't go back anymore, it's our burden."

@.

Bobby figured this would be as good a time as any to give the knife back. Plus, he couldn't stand holding onto it anymore.

He approached Mackenzie and held the knife out to her, saying, "Hey, you kinda forgot this."

Bobby then paused for a second and said, "I'm sorry for eavesdropping, but I heard everything. Now, I've only got one question. Why? Why do you hate everyone? People are, well, everywhere. If you're just always hating everyone, it seems like you'd be miserable all the time. Some people can even be a good part of your life, and you're missing out if you avoid everyone all the time. Of course, that's just a suggestion. You can do whatever you want after all."

(I gotta go to bed now)

Ray sighed and approached the conversation "Of course she hates people! Who would want to be around such morons, i know i wouldn't" He sent a glare towards Bobby "What the hell did i just say to not do? Listen here Bobby, not everyone can go around and be all friendly with everyone like you,"

"And is there a problem with me being alone?" She asked. "Seriously, all you guys have done so far: it's only the first day of school, is pester me left and right." She growled, "I won't have a problem defending the school when it need be. In addition, did you hear my role as a member of the trinity four?" She held up her badge. "My job is literally to lurk around in the background, listening in on trouble."

Mackenzie sharply turned to bobby, a shout already halfway in her throat, when her anger was replaced with confusion upon seeing the knife. She quickly snatched it from Bobby, flinching slightly as it's sensation returned to her.

"What are you doing with my knife?!" She demanded, before pausing to think. Her voice dropped. "Oh, I left it on the field." She whispered.

She listened to Bobby's speech. She wanted to be angry at him for eavesdropping, but at this point, she pretty much had given up.

"You know what? I give up. You guys just can't understand that I simply don't like socialising. If I hate others, it makes it easier for me to avoid them. To deter them."

She gestured towards Ray. "See? He gets it!" She yelled. She paused and did a double take. "IS THE SOLE JOB OF THE TRINITY FOUR TO STALK EACH OTHER?!" She yelled

@,

"Alright, alright, I'll fuck off if that's what's gonna make you happy. I'm sorry for bothering you," said Bobby as he turned and walked away.

At this point, Bobby was happy to rid himself of the whole mess. He had banged his head on the wall of getting Mackenzie to open up for too long.

With that out of the way he looked towards his fellow loner "Could you please keep an eye on the friendship is magic guy? I feel like he is going to go apeshit. Ray turned around and looked up towards the councils office "A too happy guy, two loners who would rather be 10 kilometeres under the earth and a stern elementalist? What type of saidst is this headmaster?" Muttered Ray as he walked towards the tower to do the required paperwork for an unregistered fight
