Would it be in Hasbro's best interest to pull the Digimon card with g4 cast?

Completely changing the main characters would not work. Unless you start a new spin-off show. But gradually giving supporting characters more episodes and episodes where tehy are the lead is a good thing. This happened a lot in season 5 and The Crystalling continued this, I would say Starlight and Sunburst had as big roles as Twilight and Spike in the episode (with Candence, Shining Armour, Celestia, Luna and Flurry Heart having as about the same size roles or even bigger than the rest of mane 6).

 

So if the trend would continue and people would respond to it, I could maybe see mane 6 expanded so that Starlight and maybe a couple of new characters would be added and the rest of supporting characters would continue to get focus. It would keep storylines fresh but the mane 6 would not be removed. I suppose some old supporting characters like Spike and CMC would have to get less screentime (kind of what has happened to Celestia already) so there would be enough room for new characters and expanded roles.

 

But the show would have to run at least a couple more seasons longer for that to happen. It would take time to establish new main characters for it to feel natural and not forced upon (Starlight was not handled that well so far, good that she has not been added to the main characters yet at least).
