It’s absolutely absurd to label female anime characters as dumb or degenerate subjects without any effort at seeing the subtleties of the characters. Having large expressive eyes and defined character design is what cartoons have been about since they were invented. The ‘car’ in ‘cartoon’ is derived from ‘character’ or characterization which you cannot have without exaggerating the features. People can complain all they want about anime girls being one thing or another, but they’re extremely popular for a very good reason; they’re not afraid to be feminine, unlike female characters in most modern media. The Japanese appreciate their women and find them attractive because they are feminine and depicted that way unashamedly. The male characters are likewise well-defined as masculine and thus are made to appeal to their female audiences. It’s refreshing to have characters that aren’t written according to a bland checklist of what’s socially acceptable by the lame woke standards the rest of the world is too malleable to oppose. If anime characters are ‘dumb’ or ‘degenerate’ creations, then I’ll continue watching my dumb and degenerate characters, and love every minute of it.
