gaming PS4 Remote Play Comes to PC/Mac

So as many know, the Xbox One last year introduced a feature that allowed people to stream games to their Windows 10 PC at 1080p and in 60FPS (for games that supported it obviously). This was a huge asset to people who recorded Let's Plays and wanted to do game reviews that could not afford the more expensive capture devices such as the ElgatoHD60. Well up until the recent update to the PS4, the PS4's remote play feature was exclusive to the PSVita and it has now been ported to PC and Mac. The software does come with its limitations, and I did a video going over it here if you'd like to see it in action:

The break down:

Pros:

  • Fairly reliable and lets you play on a PC far from your home.
  • 60FPS is supported.
  • Inexpensive way to record gameplay.
  • Faster to export footage from your console.
  • Works on Windows 8.1 and Mac OSX while the Xbox only works on Windows 10.

Cons:

  • Limited to 720p
• When 60FPS is active, sharing options are disabled, fortunately if you're on your PC you can easily get around that.
  • Not a good option for hardcore competitive gaming videos due to minor lag and lower resolution.
  • No local co-op available while using, limited entirely to single player and online multi-player.

So is it better than the Xbox One's streaming feature?

Not really, but it's a step in the right direction. It's inherent problems which as far as I can tell are all software and optimization issues can be fixed with an update, but I do have to give it points for not being exclusive to one OS and one version of said OS. So I'd say it's about 80% there in terms of being on par with the Xbox One's streaming.

Have you guys tried it yet? What are your thoughts?

What are you talking about? PS4 remote play definitely came out for the PC a few days ago, and it DEFINITELY is limited to 720p.

I do not believe we are talking about the same thing.
