Will we ever see an rpg pony game by Hasbro?

Maybe, but truthfully I wouldn't count on it unless it was some shovelware game.

Triple AAA development for video games has become a very risky endeavor. The profit margins on such games are much lower nowadays and with expectations of video games so high, Hasbro would need to see a REAL demand for it to justify it unless they just threw it to a shovelware company that is just going to pump out a bargain bin game. The sad reality is that not enough people would buy it to justify investing more than that into it.

As I've said before, Hasbro rarely takes video game development seriously, as most games based on their franchises are usually mobile games or treated like shovelware, especially if you're one of their girl's franchise. I wouldn't expect much from an official My Little Pony game, even though the current series has a lot to work with to make a solid game. Chances are it'll most likely be a shitty minigame collection, rather than an RPG similar to a classic Final Fantasy like I'd want to see from it.

I still hope Hasbro takes Wayforward up their offer someday though...

I wish they would, but it's highly unlikely to come from Hasbro directly. Heck, they didn't even go in-house to Wizards of the Coast for the MLP card game. The people who make Magic the Gathering were not involved with the MLP card game. The proposed tabletop Pony RP game that was announced a bit ago is also being made by a third-party game developer, again rather than going to their wholly owned subsidiary WotC. The people who make Dungeons & Dragons are not going to be involved with the MLP Tabletop RPG.

Hasbro is amazingly siloed, and since they've already got that Gameloft game made under license, it's highly unlikely they'll do anything more than that. It's truly *weird* how reluctant they are of going in-house for anything that might possibly cross departmental lines.

do you think we'll ever see an official pony Pokemon- like rpg by a company other than Hasbro, then?

Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub

I get the feeling that unless Hasbro pulls the license from Gameloft, no. I don't know what was in the wording of that license agreement they made, but I get the distinct impression that whatever they said in it is *way* to liberal in Gameloft's favour, and no other company is allowed to make a video-style game for MLP without violating that license. Heck, it may not even be limited to MLP:FiM, but any MLP property like EqG or prior generations. I expected to see a EqG paper doll-style official game before the second movie came out, and that didn't happen to my knowledge.
