Mist winched in pain at the fresh cuts on his back. But although he was bleeding heavily he had never felt more alive. Mist pushed the griffon off his back with his wings, using the talons at the tip of each wing to dig into the griffons stomach. He then ran over to the griffon, before he could recover from bring thrown to the ground, and kicked him in the beak.

@@Dapper Charmer,

The griffon's head jerked back awkwardly to another cheer. On instinct, his head snapped forward, grabbing one of Mist's hooves in his beak. His sharply hooked beak bit into Mist's leg, causing blood to drip to the floor.

Quickly, the griffon wrapped his talons around Mist's other hind hoof and pinned it to the ground.

Mist had to admit this guy was pretty good bit he made a mistake, he didn't pin Mist's front hooves. He again threw sand in the griffons face. While he was distracted Mist freed his hind legs and satisfyingly bucked the griffin hard in the face, causing his nose to bleed.

The griffon ducked under the strike. "Pony is very repetitive," he said. When Mist stumbled over the missed blow, the griffon simply ran across the sand before turning around with a neat flick of his tail. His yellow eyes regarded Mist keenly as his claws dug into the sand.

Mist smiled, even though he hurt like hell he was having more fun than he had had in ages. "That's the thing about being repetitive," said Mist eyeing the griffon, "it's a lot easier to do something unexpected." Mist bared his own hidden fangs and lunged at the griffon aim his teeth for the neck.

@@Dapper Charmer,

The griffon's claws dug into the sand as he grabbed it. Mist's momentum was slowed by a clod of dirt held together by blood. It struck him squarely in the face, causing the bruise from earlier to throb. By the time he god the sand out of his eyes, the griffon was on the other side of the arena. "Two can chew on one bone!" he called.

"Clever move," said Mist geniuninly, "I think I underestimated you," Mist bared his fangs once again and lunged at the griffon. He growled as he pinned him to the ground. He was like a wild animal, and animals needed blood. Mist snarled as he bit down hard on the griffins front leg

The griffon winced. His hind legs coiled up, and he kicked them into Mist's stomach, raking him with his claws. One wing flew up and whacked Mist in the face as the griffon continued digging his claws in, trying to make Mist let go. His other claw shapped up as well, yanking on one of Mist's wings and tearing it slightly.

Mist stopped biting the griffons front legs. He winched at the tear in his wings. He quickly dug his fangs into the griffons stomach before retreating to a safe distance. Mist smiled at the griffon, "you're actually pretty tough for a scrawny piece of shit,"

The griffon tilted his head. "All griffs tough," he said. "But this griff is tough and smart."

He started running, nearly as fast on three legs as on four, charging at Mist. When Mist tried to counterattack, the griffon simply leapt over him, flapping his wings to latch onto Mist's back. This time, there was no hesitation as the griffon grabbed one of Mist's wings and clamped the membrane in his beak. He watched Mist knowingly out of the corner of one eye with a small smile.

Mist grinned devilisly. The griffon thought he had Mist in a bind but he didn't count on how much Mist was willing to risk to win. Mist twisted his body and screamed as he felt the membrane of his wings tear. He pushed through the pain and managed to pin the griffon to the ground by the neck. It was clear from the pressure that Mist was applying that one sudden move would end in a snapped neck and a dead griffon. "Ponies tough too."

The griffon narrowed his eyes at Mist. He didn't move or struggle. He just stared at Mist's eyes, a steady, unflinching gaze that made Mist feel like he was the one pinned on the ground. Slowly, still staring, the griffon wrapped his talons around Mist's hooves. He didn't try to cut them or move them quickly, instead letting them hit the ground so slowly that Mist didn't notice it at all.

With equal slowness, still staring, the griffon pushed himself up.

Mist regained his senses and decided to give his own stare. It was a stare of primal anger and aggression. The griffon could tell from this stare that Mist would keep fighting till he was dead. Suddenly he lunged at the griffon grabbing his hind leg. He pulled until he heard the satisfying snap of dislocation.

The griffon screeched, jerking away from Mist and pulling his leg free. Spreading his tattered greyish wings, he took flight, wincing internally as his wings protested. Twisting in the air, the griffon caught glimpses of the injury  in between loops in the air. Satisfied, the griffon flew as high as the ceiling allowed, tilted back, and folded his wings.

He fell to the sand at a seemingly awkward angle, a distinct snap sounding out on his landing. The griffon stumbled forward a few steps before regaining his bearings, moving his relocated leg. He smiled and looked up at Mist, before he started to run.

The distance between them seemed to flicker away. However, just before they would have collided, the griffon turned away in a spray of sand. As he turned, he extended his talons and raked them over the side of Mist's neck, leaving three ragged gashes.

Mist winched at the pain he felt all over his body. He could feel himself getting weaker with each movement. Mist walked forward but collapsed. The griffon probably excpected crying but Mist just started laughing. "Looks like you win," he said chucking the griffon two sacks of bits, "as promised."

Ballpoint was disappointed at Mist's loss. She would have kept cheering him on, but she was also afraid that he might get hurt even more then he already was.

"Mist, should I call an ambulance?" asked Ballpoint as she approached him. "You look pretty banged up."

The griffon nodded to intense cheering. Calmly, he grabbed one sack in his beak and the other in one foreclaw. He coughed, but denied medical attention. The griffons were mostly used to dealing with gashes, but he felt bruised and sore. At least he had a little pride to make up for it, he thought as he slid back down the ladder. Calmly, the griffon limped back to his seat, put his glasses on, and returned to reading his scroll.

"Bravo!" Iron called to the griffon's receding back. She turned and walked over to Ballpoint. "You are going to tell them that he got into a barfight," she said. "And if cops show up in a day, I'll know exactly who is responsible." Piece said, she returned calmly to her place as she waited for the next fight.
