How would it have worked?

Apparently, Lauren's original plan was for Twilight to become Celestia's successor while (maybe i'm not quite sure) remaining a unicorn instead of ascending into an Alicorn like she did at the end of season 3 after Lauren left the show. But how would that have worked? Yes, before Celestia and Luna, the sun and moon were raised and lowered by unicorns, but there were multiple unicorns handling the task, Twilight is one pony. And one pony plus a WHOLE sun just doesn't add up to-

For this to happen I feel like Twilight still would have become a princess.

I don't think that Celestia or Luna would have died in this scenario so they would still be around to raise and lower the moon and the sun.

They would step down from power and let Twilight take care of the other tasks they were involved with in ruling over Equestria, while they would become traveling nomads and take care over their celestial bodies.
