Hayley was very confused. "I-I should go. Get well soon Atropa." Hayley left the hospital room.

Atropa looked up at Jake, her eyeliner streaming down her face.

"I-l-love him.."

She grabbed her pants off the floor,

searching through the pockets for her knife. She needed to cut.

When she couldn't find it, she threw her pants on the floor and screamed.

"Did you take my knife?"

She glared at Jake, biting her lip so hard it began to bleed.

Jake looked in her eyes. "Atropa... can you look me dead in the eyes, and tell me with every fiber of your being... that you love this guy? The guy that has abused you, defiled you, hurt you, put you in this very hospital, and you love him?" he put his face closer to hers, looking her straight into her tear filled eyes with his own, tears forming as well. He had taken the knife, it was in his backpack, but he didn't tell her.

Atropa reached out to Jake, pulling him close.

"I do love him. I love him, I love him. God, I love him."

She sobbed onto Jake's shoulder, and squeezed him tightly.

"I don't know what to do anymore. Help me."

She pulled back to look into Jake's face, and stared at his eyes.

"you have beautiful eyes."

Then, she kissed him, full on the lips.

Jake heard her say she loved him, but there was something that made him think she was lying to her own self. When she held him he held right back, and then she kissed him. He was taken by surprise, but it made him... happy. He gently wrapped an arm around her as he deepened the kiss. <I'll always be here to help you> he thought in his head.

Atropa melted into him, kissing him hard, sucking on his lip and letting him take her.

They kissed for a few minutes and then Atropa pulled back, breathing heavily.

"I'm sorry. My head hurts.."

She layed back down and closed her eyes, blushing.

"B-but can you s-stay with me please?"

She held out her hand, waiting for his.

Jake smiled and took her hand, sitting on the edge of her bed. "Of course I'll stay here" he said gently.

<Let's skip ahead a few hours>

 

Atropa got her car back, and she drove home.

She was able to leave the hospital, and she told Jake she'd be fine, he could go home.

She'd offered him a ride, but he said he wanted to go for a walk.

Atropa's feelings were all mixed, and she didn't know what she wanted to do.

Brenden was waiting for her, but she didn't feel like going to his house tonight.

Instead, she went home and took a shower.

Jake continued to walk, his mind was so filled with emotions and thoughts that it gave him a headache. He passed Brendens house on his way to his own. He listened for the sounds of a struggle, but there was nothing. A small smile came across his face, she didn't go back there. He got to his house, walking to the front steps and sat down. His mother wouldn't be home until tomorrow night.

Atropa took a long hot shower, and when she got out, she removed all her piercings, just to see what she would look like without them.

She didn't feel like herself without them.

But she decided to leave them out for the night, and let them soak in some rubbing alcohol to clean them.

She lay in her bed, thinking about that kiss.

It was soft and sweet, nothing like Brenden's kisses.

She felt her stomach flop at the thought of what Brenden would do once he realized she wasn't gonna show up.

She buried her face in her pillow.

Jake couldn't get up to go inside, he was too worried about Atropa. He kept an eye on Brendens house, in case he left to drop her a 'visit'.

Brenden was at home, angry and high.

He couldn't understand why Atropa wasn't there yet.

But he was too high to stand. He'd talk to her tomorrow.

 

Atropa had fallen asleep, and was dreaming of Jake.

She hadn't slept so peacefully since she'd met Brenden.

Jake was content, Brenden wasn't going anywhere tonight. He walked into his house, too tired to trek to his room, he flopped onto the couch and fell asleep, his mind held only thoughts about Atropa.

The morning sun woke Atropa up.

She sighed, and rolled over, listening to the birds singing.

No school today, since it was Saturday.

 

What would she do?

She usually stayed in and got high or something, but right now she didn't feel like it.

She got up and went downstairs to make herself a bowl of cereal.

Her mom and Greg weren't there, and she assumed Skyler was still asleep.

She sat in the quiet kitchen and ate her Lucky Charms, enjoying the silence.

Her cell phone had over thirty messages from Brenden, but none from Jake.

She sighed, and closed it, then put it next to her on the table.

Didn't he have her number?

Sky had just come home from school. He heard something had happened to Atropa but he didn't bother to check up on her.

I got to stay out of her fucking business anyway.

Gummi was offline. As usual. She'll probably come online in a few hours anyway.

Sky decided to take a nap for an hour. He was drained of all energy, talking till 3 am was hard work.

 

Sky was back in the theater. The movie was different though. Everything was moving too fast. It all seemed a blur. He could make out a few scenes back from his childhood but that was it. The theater suddenly changed, but before he could make out where he heard a screech. Well it was more of a siren.

 

Sky woke up. It was early in the morning. He checked his messages on skype. Gummi had messaged him. He smiled. It felt nice to be loved. He threw on a short and a shirt and went downstairs to get his nutella. He noticed Atropa and greeted her.

"Morning Atropa. How's the Lucky Charms?"

Atropa smiled, which felt weird because she didn't have her piercings in.

"Yummy, like always. I haven't had them in forever though."

She took a spoonful and ate it.

"D'you know where mom is?"

She took another bite, then drank her milk, spilling it down her shirt.

She looked down at her favorite shirt, now covered with milk, and, surprisingly, laughed.

She laughed and laughed, until she was crying.

Skyler replied.

"I dunno. Probably whoring herself out, the bitch."

He noticed that Atropa had split milk on her shirt.

On her favorite shirt for that matter.

But she wasn't angry she wasn't even crying, she was laughing.

Wow, she's laughing... that's a first. I wonder who's making her so happy.

Sky smiled a bit. It was always nice to see Atropa happy.

"So, I was thinking... maybe we could go down to the park like we used to and talk, you know? It's a nice day today as well and we shouldn't waste it" Sky said still smiling from Atropa's little accident. Sky was hopeful, Atropa was happy, the way she was a few years ago.

Atropa quit laughing long enough to answer.

"Sure, sounds like fun!"

She continued to laugh and walked upstairs to get dressed.

She felt great today.

This is surprising. She's still laughing. This is great.

Sky almost skipped as he walked up the stairs to his room. He put on a jacket and some jeans. He wasn't exactly going to smell great but he didn't want to waste any time. He had a sister to talk to. He noticed Gummi was online and asking where he is. He decided to not reply.

Sky ran down the stairs back to the table when he noticed that Greg had come back.

Motherfucker.

"Hey dickhead, where's your sister. I want my car back already."

"I-I-I-"

"Stop stuttering already. I've gotta headache and need to ehh talk to your sister for a bit."

"She uh went outside to Brenden's."

"Huh, she's a fucking dumbass." Greg chuckled. It had a malicious feel to it.

Skyler quickly got up and hurriedly walked to his sister's room. He had to make sure Greg didn't see her. Atropa was walking down the stairs when Sky bumped into her.

"Quick, you gotta come with me. It's Greg."

Atropa shook her head no.

She pushed past Skyler and went straight up to Greg.

"I want my car back, slut."

He laughed.

"No."

Greg stopped.

"What did you just say?"

"I said no, retard."

Greg glared.

"You better watch your dirty mouth, you whore."

Atropa smiled.

"And you better keep your fucking hands off me, you pervert. If you don't, I'll beat the shit out of you."

Greg swallowed.

"You better watch out, bitch.. I'll get you when you least expect it.. And I don't want that piece of shit car anyway.."

He walked out of the room, and Atropa smiled to herself.

That was... amazing. She just stood up to Greg like that. That was something.

Atropa walked out the house. Sky quickly followed.

"That was amazing sis. You totally left him standing."

The two talked as they walked to the park.

Man... I haven't felt this good in ages. She isn't even wearing her piercings. She look better without them anyway.

Sky smiled at Atropa randomly. It was out of no where. He just wanted to.

"So sis. You aren't wearing your piercings today. Any particular reason for that?" Sky asked happily walking. As he waited for an answer he noticed that he had a slight skip in his step like he had a few years ago.

Is everything becoming normal again? I really hope so. Sky was grinning. He felt on top of everything.

Atropa smiled at Skyler too.

"I just don't feel like wearing them right now."

She yawned.

"I missed talking to you like this, Sky."

She stopped, and reached out to hug him.

"It's not easy for me to do this."

She blushed and continued walking.

*Sasha was sitting ona park bench. She saw Atropa and Skyler walking.*

"Hey you two. How is it going?"

*She said to the siblings.*

Jake had gotten up and (surprise surprise) was going for a walk. He never had anything else to do so that's what he always did. But this time he decided to go see Atropa, the only one on his mind that whole night. He didn't have her number, so he figured he'd get it today then hang with her. There was no answer at the house so he walked, Brendens house was silent, so he walked to the park. There he saw her and Skyler talking to the tree girl from yesterday. "Heya Atropa!" he called out happily.

Hayley was in the park, she enjoyed spending her Sunday morning sketching birds in the park. She laid against a tree with her sketch pad on her lad and pastels in a small box next to her. Hayley wasn't aware that the tree she was against was the special tree of Skyler and Atropa. Hayley paused for a moment and flipped through her sketch book. She had drawn a picture of Atropa smiling. The picture made Hayley smile.
