Was The Crystal Empire test foreshadowing for Sunset? Should it be?

In "The Crystal Empire", Sunbutt set up a test for Twilight- stupid as it was, to put the lives of an entire empire at risk so someone could learn self sacrifice. She said "you weren't willing to risk the future of the citizens of the Crystal Empire in an effort to guarantee your own. Far better that I have a student who understands the meaning of self sacrifice, than one who only looks out for her own best interests."

 

So with magic and evil creatures seeping into a world that formerly had none, threatening the lives of magicless humans, and Sunset believing that the magical occurrences were a result of her stealing Twilight's crown and bringing it into a world that didn't have it (when in actuality, it was Starswirl's fault by sending the sirens over) why shouldn't Sunny be self sacrificing, and be willing to part with her friends and take the magic , the sirens, and herself back to Equestria for good, rather than continue putting the lives of her new friends, along with a world of defenseless magicless creatures at risk, just so she can choose to stay with her friends?

 

Should Shimmy be self sacrificing and leave her friends for the sake of bringing the magic back to Equestria, and removing the danger from their world, and becoming a pony again?
