What if a pony tries to do suicide?

That's actually happened (loosely) several times already. Pinkie in 'Party of One' and 'Pinkie Pride'. Fluttershy in 'Hurricane Fluttershy', Scootaloo in 'Flight to the Finish', and perhaps to a lesser extent, Cranky and Trouble Shoes as well just to name a few off the top of my head. Obviously they haven't gone as far as depicting full-blown clinical depression, at least not overtly, but they have skirted around that issue in their normal euphemistic manner.

As for attempted suicide, Trixie performing a dangerous trick in the hope that Starlight would forgive her and bail her out is as close as you're going to get. I've never understood the desire so many Bronies have for seeing the cartoon tainted by edgy or mature themes. The cartoon is as good as it is precisely because it's light-hearted and fun, if you want suicide, violence, depression, war, gore, bloodshed etc. then go watch Game of Thrones or any one of thousands of other programmes on TV.

Luna's self mental harm with Tantalus was pretty dark and edgy, Tirek, Tanks for the Memories, communism brainwashing via Starlight, another bout of brainwashing/mind control to the mane 6 via starlight, Twilight mind controlling Ponyville, alcoholic innuendos, illuminati symbolism, implied lesbian ponies....need I go on?

Those certainly had the capacity to be viewed as mature storylines, but they were always handled in a fairly light-hearted or allegorical manner.  There has never been an episode that I thought was handled in a way that made it unsuitable for the younger audience.  It just goes to show that the cartoon is able to present themes that adults and children may interpret in different, age appropriate, ways.  It's one more thing that demonstrates the quality of the cartoon as a whole.

A pony hate it's life, tries to do suicide and other ponies would know it or see it. But they stop that pony and would try to bring back it's motivation.

Could be a deep and realistic episode?

We've seen Trixie's actions and behavior in No Second Prances and I think that's the closest we've ever going to see a attempted pony suicide.

  • 5 months later...

They have already gotten as close as they could manage to get to a suicide attempt with that one time with Trixie, and honestly they didn't even address that in the show, it was just kinda glossed over.
