Would FiM have changed any if it was Sunset instead?

If Sunbutt had succeeded in grooming her former student, Sunset Shimmer, and NOT Twilight, would the course of FiM have changed at all? Would SS have befriended Twinkleshine, Moon dancer, and the other Canterlot ponies, or have to be sent to Equestrian to instead befriend The remane5, would she have passed the tests of discovering the 6th EoH, defeating NMM, Discord, Chrysalis, Sombra, Tirek, etc.?

Sunset probably would have done all of those things but not in the manner that Twilight went through. She would have done things on a more hands-on approach--as in wanting to get her hooves dirty--as opposed to relying on books when it came to solving problems.

Knowing the Tree of Harmony and it's representative elements, Celestia must of felt something in Twilight's magic and chosen Twilight because she gained the mark to the "Element of Magic" during her entrance exam. Sunset Shimmer was one of Celestia's prized pupils too and I believed that she can also perform great feats but Celestia held Twilight to a different task altogether, since she has the cutie mark that predetermined her destiny. Would had Sunset achieved in finding the Elements of Harmony and helped? It wasn't her role to do so but if Twilight wasn't chosen based on her mark then I'll say yes.
